The dogos stay outside all the time so I don't worry much about predators. The open end faces south and there is a nice breeze that flows west to east most summer days due to the lake in the back yard. The whole setup seems to be working quite well so far.
Yeah looking at the square foot guidelines I'll be able to keep more birds than i want very comfortably.
As for predators I have two Dogo Argentinian and a Bulldog that I've got trained to keep an eye on them. They free range together all day without incident.
