    Speckled Sussex or Welsummer?

Thanks. As chicks the two were the same size and one just darker -the SS. But now the SS is larger - spotted and has lost her stripe. The Welsummer contender is probably a Wellsummer.

    Speckled Sussex vs Welsumer

Her fluff is very tan. I think she is a she also. Now the SS has a bright white set of feathers coming out and it is bigger than the Welsummer although both were supposed to be the same 2-3 day olds.

Help, She's Crowing & won't lay eggs anymore!!!

Does she go into the nesting box? Does she act broody in the nesting box or seem stressed. If not in stress due to being broody, then perhaps egg bound? You could try a warm bath about half height to warm her bottom but not her top feathers. Say ten minutes. Pat her dry. This may help her relax...

    Pullet crowing???

Give a fenced off area that only the 6 week olds can get under. Put them all in that secured area. They will venture out when they feel ready and return to their siblings at night. Don't force a 6 week old out of that area. They will go when ready.

    Pullet crowing???

If you hear crowing you have one. But be ok because Easter Egger Roos are one of the gentlest roos. Hopefully you will only have one.

    What's my breed please ?'

Top one looks like a Welsummer but I am trying to find out if I got one of those. Mine are just under 3 weeks. The Polish one (pompadore) looks Frizzled as well so perhaps a mix? They are all good looking chickens. -Wrenne

    Speckled Sussex vs Welsumer

Was supposed to get two Speckled Sussex but think I may have one SS and one Welsummer. Do the chicks look similar. The SS has spots at 3weeks. The Welsumer contender has a mask and back dark brown line still but just blotchy or variegated. BLOTCHES vs spots. Speckled on left and possible...

    Very sick hen!

I tried the Tums. She wouldn't take the little pieces I put blueberries on and she loves blueberries. She layed another shell-less egg and then came out of the hen house for the first time in three days. She layed a small.egg with shell.

    Very sick hen!

I have calcium chips that they can get anytime they want. It is in a raised bowl. I buy it by the 50lb bag. I do treat them twice yearly for worms using fenbendazole. They are isolated from the yard by a walk-in fenced and screened area. That way no predators in - but also keeps wild birds out...

    Very sick hen

My 3.5 year old hen and a survivor of Mareks is not well. She is normally my best egg layer with the largest egg. These are often so large she strains and then needs assistance with prolapse. Usually a warm bath and olive oil to assist with proper placement. However, she has layed two soft...
