    I bet it was calcium balls! I just Googled that. I feel super relieved (and kinda dumb) but I learned something new today! I was seriously considering running to my farm and picking up all my chickens to look at their vents for some infected nastiness :lol:

    The red is nesting material and I did not try crushing them, they were so tiny, and I was super convinced they were a type of parasite egg or something and was super grossed out. Lol

    It's a piece of the substrate in the nesting boxes. I had dumped the bowl of eggs into the sink and tried to fish it back out for a photo to look up later lol

    I cracked an egg and found fly eggs swirled in the inside of the white of the egg. I'm assuming they are fly eggs, it's possible they are mosquito or something else. I'm wondering if the egg was slightly cracked before and something laid eggs into it then or if somehow, something, can lay eggs...

    Is my pullet dying?

    I noticed today that my black australorp won't raise its head that much. It keeps it tucked and digs or picks crazily at its breast. Almost like a seizure. It's been laying in the broader with its head tucked funny. Any thoughts on what it could be? Wish I could share a video!

    Chick zipping question-normal?

    Have brinsea 20 advanced with hygrometer. Woke up to day 21 and a chick like below. Humidity has stayed a constant 65% the membrane inside looks a little white and not wet. Does this look like normal zipping? Just a big hole? I'm worried the chick is stuck and not getting anywhere or can't move...

    Turkey mouth breathing

    My hen recently started to mouth breathe. She hasn't laid any eggs except for the one clutch last year. She is one. Any thoughts? Plenty of water out, plenty of food, not sure what the issue is.

    Pips but no chirping?

    Thank you! 3 of 15 hatched so far. More have pipped. The 3 chick's keep knocking the eggs around and the pips end up on the bottom. Is it okay to turn those eggs right side up or can they hatch upside down like that?
