    No. Purchased from a feed mill. It was solid black during the first 2 weeks.

    No kids and nobody else gets into the area where they are, out in a shed that is closed up at night.

    In a brooder with 10 other chickens, only fed chick feed. Nothing to get into and no, not sprayed with paint or anything else. It's a real mystery.

    No way for them to get to them. They are still in a brooder. This is the only one of its kind though.

    I would appreciate any help with understanding what breed this is. I thought it was a Black Giant or Black Australorp that I was getting. I've tried to research any chickens that have this color with no results.

    3 of them just dropped dead with no signs of reason. Lately, I am seeing black swollen spots on some of their waddles. I'm treating them currently with VetRx and Corid (?) to eliminate possible issues. They normally get electrolytes in their water.
