How about watermelon and cantaloupe seeds?

My chickens love any type of fruit that I have given them. Apples and melons are favorites. They have also enjoyed fresh yellow squash I tried bell peppers but it was refused by all 14 members of my flock. They aren't too keen on cabbage but enjoy garden salad

How many put water and food inside their hen house? Due to the possibility of mice and other critters our hen house is free of food and water. My chickens have access to food and water in the coop. They have a small door way that they can access at any time. The coop is fully enclosed so they...

If the nipple is not leakingI do not understand why you say the cuos are a no go in areas with freezing temps. Obviously if there is no leak there is nothing to freeze

What treat did your chickies get today?

my little ladies love cold water melon as well as cantaloupe. Celery is not a favorite. They eat kale but do not "woof it down" like fruits and melons.

We did not use any goop on ours. They have been installed for about a month with no issues. We bought the horizontal nipples with nipple cups because i was concerned about leakage but I think the cups were unnecessary

    Blue Andalusian thread!

Trouble can no longer escape!!! We completed the hen house and we built a new coop which is totally enclosed. There are a lot of hawks in the area so we felt it necessary to cover the coop. They now have lots if room and there is no need to clip their wings. The coop is 40 x 40

    Blue Cochin

Cookie is my first and only blue cochin so I have nothing to compare her too. She is a large chick tho. Most of my other chicks have weight up with her on height but not in weight. There is also the "fluff" factor. I ordered a rare breed selection so i have 6 different breeds in my flock of 14...

I also use the horizontal nipples with an attached cup. We installed these on a five gallon bucket with a float valve. Hubby ran an underground pvc waterline to the three sided shelter he built for the watering bucket. The bucket sits up on cinder blocks . The pullets love this. It provides...
