Alas, it has come to pass that our dear Melly (23 weeks) who we thought was a he and then a she, has finally revealed his true identity as a He/Roo.
He's very docile and gentle. we are not allowed to have Roos in our area so I am hoping someone would be willing to adopt him into their flock...

We were excited when other posters suggested "He" was a "She" and honestly, he never displayed any Roo traits - (he's very docile, gentle, never...

Seeking a 5-10 week old pullet (Orpington, RIR or any good layer breed) to round out our flock and also keep our 8 week old EE company when she loses her Roo companion who we purchased and raised with her. (unfortunately, we can't have roos). We're in Howard county and willing to drive an hour...
Alas, @JedJackson, you were correct. Melly is starting to show signs of being a "Mel." He has started making attempts to crow along with other signs. I wrote this post because I was worried about Easter and it turns out it was Melly I should have been worried about all along. 😞 Life is so...
Hello all,
So, our dear Melly, who we got (from TSC) as a chunky two-day old chick is showing serious signs of being more of a " Mel" than a "Melly". 😞 For the past week, we've been hearing him make a really loud squeaky-toy sounding noise in the mornings, which we suspect to be his attempts...

Hi Peepers,
so sorry for your troubles. where in Maryland are you? we might be able to take a bantam and a baby if you are still looking to re-home. Good Luck you.
Thank you for responding. I have a suspicion that Melly was much older than a day old when we got her because s/he was quite big - (much bigger and more mature looking than the others in fact) and definitely bigger than Easter. I have a feeling s/he is much older than 8 weeks for sure. Fingers...
Hello All,
Would appreciate some help in figuring out the breed and gender of our flock. For our older flock, we got a mix of eggs which we incubated and hatched ourselves. My guess is that we have two buffs (Bo and Fuzzy- the cream and orange hens in the pic below), one sex link (panther-...
