I posted these before and at the time they all looked the same. Three weeks later they all look different. (The tail feathers for instance). They were suppose to be Australorps but as you can see they aren't. Just hoping one or two of them may be a hen. One of them is even "rumpless". Theses...
OK I was just told that at 12 weeks old a RIR would have a dark red comb and wattle by now. The green tipping around her neck and the little green in her tail feathers just had me thinking rooster, rooster, rooster. And the lacing thing, that's their normal feathering look. Is this correct info???
Something really wants me to be a "Rooster" mom. I keep acquiring them. Maybe I am wrong though. Please help. If one is a rooster I need to exchange it this afternoon. I swapped 2 Easter Egger Roosters for these 2 (Hens??) The fellow said they were both Rhode Island Red Hens...I'm just not...
The seller sold them to us as all 4 being Australorps along with 4 EE's and 3 Black Cochin Bantams. Said they were all girls too. Out of the 11 we have 2 girls! What a lesson we learned being new to chickens. Now we are attached to a bunch of friendly roosters. Couldn't wait to get pretty eggs...
I was told to post these over here and see if you Maran folks can help. We bought 4 what were suppose to be Australorp babies but they look like they are turning out to be something different. They are 14 weeks old. Could they possibly be a Australorp / Maran mix? 3 of them have more mahogany...

Can anyone please tell me what breed these are. They were sold to us as Black Australorps but as you can see they are not solid black. They were at first but the older the get (14 weeks now) the more colors come in. Also are they hens or roosters?
We have 4 Australorp chickens that will be 14 weeks old on Sunday. Three of them have darker red combs than the other one and he crowed a few times about 4 weeks ago. We moved them to a different coop with some older hens and roosters and he hasn't crowed since to our knowledge. I have read that...
Yeah the first one "Chiefaroo" jumped right into showing he was a rooster. He is the one my husband wants to keep. He is big, started crowing at 10 weeks, and he struts his stuff. He is not as loving as my ex "Miss Priss" that turned into "Mr. Priss" (haven't decided on a new name yet, any...
He is beautiful. You're lucky...I have ended up with 3 of those manly beauties! And the worse part is you raise them from babies and get so attached to them. There is no way I could even think about eating one.
Thanks. That is so disappointing. He has been the most femine acting of all of them. Hint the name "Miss Priss". Darn Sissy. Chiefaroo acts all male. Amazing at the difference. Promised all girls. Can't trust anyone anymore.
Are they Americaunas or Easter Eggers? That has been the other thing we are not sure about. Which rooster do you think will turn out to be the prettiest?
The 4 babies we bought all looked exactly the same. Boy did they all 4 turn out to look totally different. Take a look.
This is "Chiefaroo" the rooster
This is "Scratch" the other rooster
"LuLu" the pullet...
And this is Miss/Mr I'm not sure...right now the name is "Miss Priss" and I...
We bought 4 EE chicks from a private seller. We were told they were all girls. (This is our first experience with EE). They will be 12 weeks old Sat. 4/25/13. So far 2 are roosters. We are certain because they are crowing at 5:30 am every morning. We are pretty sure that 1 is a hen. But the one...
