That's what happened on my first ever hatch, 4 cockerels and one pullet. I was a bit confused wondering if that's how it was going to go each time... I think we all get our share of the male-heavy hatches and our share of the female dominated hatches. This works for me right now as I have 3...

@junebuggena, I suspected you were referring to Bristol. Thanks for your expert opinion! It's almost amazing that I ended up with 4 pullets and 1 cockerel this hatch! That's an unusual proportion for me! Now, as I continue "nesting" I'll return to genetics info links to see how I want to best...

@junebuggena were you referring to Bristol when you posted "pullet" at the top of this page?

Thanks @junebuggena. So I guessed right for once about Monterrey, lol. Here are just taken pics of Bristol. Please excuse the big mess. (I got seriously impacted by hurricane Irma and have been cleaning the ceilings off the floors so I missed a cleaning date!) Bristol:

Sorry! I asked again before I saw your reply. Now we only have Monterrey to sex and Bristol. It may look confusing bcs there are 2 atypical BRs in these pics. (btw I stole the phrase atypical BR from you @junebuggena ). The first one Vilana (the huge) pullet is light yellow barred on her head...

I just took these pics. It might be worth noting that when they hatched the blue pullet Breezy and this chick Monterrey looked very much alike. I am nearly certain they both came from the same set of parents. As they have matured Monterrey has taken on a ton of rust-orange coloring with much...

@junebuggena, Thank you. That's what I thought but doubted my thinking bcs she is so huge! I can't wait to see the size of an egg she lays!

Lucy Dos (Lucy the 2nd). The last pic coincidentally is the 3 that live together: Vilano/a, Monterrey and Lucy Dos. Thanks in advance for any feedback and opinions!

Here is Monterrey. Miss or Mr? Pic 1 is the same group shot, showing Monterrey in front facing left.

This is Vilano (if male) or Vilana (if female). Vilano/a is in the rear and Monterrey whose pics I'll post next is in the front of this goofy group photo.

As per the suggestion I got to take new pics, full body etc, I did the best I could...not great pics as the birds were running around silly as usual. Still, I hope that these pics will do bcs I can't imagine getting better ones. I'll start with Breezy who is a 50% silkie. I was totally...

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll take new pics probably tomorrow. You Are saying that about all of them, right? How do spurs factor into sexing? I know certain breeds neither gender have spurs. I guess I should just wait until I post the new pics... Thanks.

This is Bristol. The comb shows much redder than usual bcs we played chase before getting to the pics. Thank you all for feedback!

This is Breezy, 50% silkie. (I suspect s/he is the direct sibling of Monterrey). Her comb is still neutral colored. Everything point to female except she has quite long spurs.
