@YoungsDucks I would just keep an eye on her weight. Do you have a scale that would work for her?
Thanks HollyDuckFarmer. I will get a scale and watch her weight. She's always been more petite than the other girls and less aggressive about treats.
Anyone have a runner with a sunken chest like this? It's only on my chocolate runner (2 months old) and is a definite indent. It becomes more pronounced as she breaths in and out. Otherwise, she seems normal. Am I being paranoid?
I was able to get females as opposed to a straight run from the barn where I got my ducklings. They were only a day old, so it seems that some places are able to differentiate. Good luck!
My girls are still in their gawky teenage phase, but agreed, so good for mental health. They are hilarious! They like to walk into the house and swim in one of the bath tubs. Then the blondes like the blow dryer (on very low and only warm) after.
Crap, we have a couple giant rhododendron trees in our yard. Has anyone had any success keeping ducklings/ducks away from them beyond busting out the chainsaw?
Thank you both very much! That is extremely helpful. We lost a duckling earlier, and while the vet thought it was an unavoidable infection from the umbilical cord (didn't know they had those), I am still very paranoid.
The barn I got my ducklings from sold me citric acid to put in the ducks' water as an immunity booster. 1 pinch per gallon of water. Anyone else heard of this? I know that citrus is bad for ducks, so I wanted to be sure.
This is a great list. The barn we got our ducklings from sold us citric acid to give for the vitamins as an immunity booster. Anyone else heard of this? I worried since citrus treats are bad?
