I have a question for you helpful folks... @Nabiki, @007Sean, @Patiocoturnix, @CliftonQuail and ANYONE of you helpful folks who has experience in this part of the country. This will be my quail's first winter; and since my quail are outside in an on-the-ground aviary, at what point (temperature...
Thanks for your input, I bought some foam & I'm going to try the foam cushion; as this is the 2nd time this has happened; although the 1st time resulted in a very bad injury, it was not fatal. I wish I knew what scares them when I'm not home. I suspect it's a predator. I'm thinking about setting...
Thank you, and thanks for the feedback; and yes her neck was floppy. And has time goes on I'm more convinced that is what happened to her, because the rest of my hens are all still doing just fine. Thats a good point about the height of the roof, Im thinking they probably couldnt reach it.
Thank you!
I don not have access to her body anymore. I have thought about putting foam on the wood ceiling portion, but I worry about them pecking at it and eating it ?? Especially here in Tucson, it would dry out and deteriorate rather quickly in this climate. Have any of you guys tried that?
Thank you, no I did not take any pics of her unfortunately. So far, the other 4 hens are all acting perfectly fine. I have been out there a lot today observing them and all is well. 🤞🙏
I cant think what she could have eaten that could block her up :idunno
Unless they would eat their own...
Hello folks...I’m hoping for some input & feedback regarding death of one of my quail. I came home from work yesterday to find one of my coturnix hens lying dead on aviary floor. Everything in aviary was perfect; water system clean & functional, feed dry and fresh. Plenty of shade; and the other...
Thank you for that, :) I appreciate the vote of confidence in her. I sincerely hope you are right. She has been out in the Aviary with the covey for a full day now & spending the night out there tonight. She seems so happy to be out there and spent most of the day dirt bathing. She eating and...
ANOTHER great idea! I know just the hen to put in with her!❤️ Thank you! :thumbsup
L know what you mean Nabiki... I'm not sure she'll fully recover either; I'm a registered nurse and I know how long term traumatic brain injuries can manifest in humans, even if there's no spinal cord involvement...
Hello Folks, :frow@Nabiki, @007Sean, @Patiocoturnix & @CliftonQuail ... I hope things are well in your worlds.
This is an update regarding my hen Myrtle... She is still kenneled inside; today will be a full week. She's slowly steadily improving , eating, drinking & pooping normally. She has both...
Thank you! Good to know. I'm feeding crumbles, but I just went out and smelled the feed at @Nabiki 's suggestion and it smells great, like I could eat it myself, especially the Organic bag (which has a slightly green color), the Purina Layer smells OK too, just slightly old I guess. But...
Thank you guys... (@Nabiki, @Patiocoturnix & @007Sean) for sharing your thoughts, I really appreciate the input. :thumbsup
I'm going to give her a week, she's a "tough cookie", and has already come through so much this summer, I don't want to give up on her ❤️
I'm inclined to believe that the...
