    Chickens won’t stop eating eggs

They have the Modesto Mills organic, soy-free, corn-free layer pellets. Vegetable/fruit scraps from the kitchen, and crushed oyster shells. We did an egg filled with Dawn dish soap and a few filled with mustard. They all disappeared.

    Chickens won’t stop eating eggs

Hi everyone, We added 3 chickens to our established flock last fall. We’ve never had egg eating problems until one of the newbies started eating eggs and taught it to the others. Of our 9 chickens, we think 7 are engaging in this. We feed them high-quality feed and treats, and have oyster...

Lethargic Wyandotte… possible mold exposure or…?

Well she passed away sometime last night in her sleep (I’m guessing from her posture). Overall, I did a 10-day course of antibiotics, drained her, and was feeding water via syringe. She enjoyed melon and bugs and some days she seemed really happy with her tail up and walking/pecking a little...

Lethargic Wyandotte… possible mold exposure or…?

Well some of her flock mates came over trying to peck her when I put her in the run. She didn’t walk around… she just laid down not happy at all. She perked up again when out of the run. Guess she likes to be close but not in with them! She will get chicken time most of the day. Hopefully it’ll...

Lethargic Wyandotte… possible mold exposure or…?

She’s currently enjoying some time in the yard and made her way over next to the coop. I’m afraid the others would peck her if I let her into the run since she’s at the bottom of the pecking order. I’ll give it a go for a few minutes and see what happens. She’s unsteady on her feet… exhaustion...

Lethargic Wyandotte… possible mold exposure or…?

Update: she’s been pecking at some soft food but I’m still having to give her water via syringe. Her belly is only a little water balloon-ish. Now her urates do look a bit yellow though. Is that indicative of liver dysfunction?

Lethargic Wyandotte… possible mold exposure or…?

Okay I will hold off draining again and will see how she responds to the Amoxicillin. Yes, twice a day. I split 830mg pills into fourths and give one of those fourths each time. She’s skin and bones… I wonder if she even weighs 3 pounds. I will try enticing her with the foods you listed...

Lethargic Wyandotte… possible mold exposure or…?

She seems a little bit improved. A lot of fluid came out of the needle puncture wound overnight. She still has a lot in her but it’s significantly less than she had before draining her. She seems a little perkier. Even looked at her food (didn’t want it though). I’ve been giving the water with...

Lethargic Wyandotte… possible mold exposure or…?

No, I’ve never had to deworm. I bought a needle/syringe today so I drained her this evening. The liquid is very dark- almost black (picture). From what I’ve read that means infection? I didn’t want to take too much so I maybe got a cup out. There is so much that her belly feels like I took...

Lethargic Wyandotte… possible mold exposure or…?

Here are the requested photos. Her abdomen feels like a water balloon. She isn’t drinking on her own so I’ve been giving water with a syringe. I added some electrolytes this evening.
