Thank you, I was going to leave her for at least a day maybe 2 before I put her in with the week old chicks I currently have to give her time to get a bit stronger. It's been 14 hours now and it looks almost normal.
I don't have a ton of experience hatching chicks, so I didnt know if something...
Hey everyone, I have a question about this newly hatched chick. This is the 4th chick I've hatched, the 3 that hatched before all appeared normal but this one looks like the abdominal area didnt close up properly. I also noticed it had what looked like a small bit of yolk still attached but...
Not sure how rooster-ish her tail is, google isn't always as helpful as I'd like, but in comparison to the other 4 it is definitely longer and less rounded.
I have the full body pictures, thought the didn't want to sit still this morning so they probably aren't the best. As for the comb, this is the best I can do myself. I can have one of my kids help me later if it would be better.
I won't bother including the white one, even with that huge...
Do cockerels usually have a gap in their pelvic bones like a laying hen? I forgot to add to my previous post that the white one also squats when I go to grab him/her. Do males ever do that?
Also in regards to streamers, aren't they the darker, longer feathers on the heads? I don't have a...
I am beyond confused at this point . Someone has been laying for the last week, about 3 eggs so far. They are very small eggs and are being left in the duck house.
Just to give a bit of back story, I raised the 5 silkies and 2 ducks together so they are all one happy little family...
Yeah, all 3 buff have very little as far as comb and wattles. Just the slightly reddish color and wild hair that makes me question those 3 at the moment
I am really hoping I am wrong and would love some opinions. My latest group of silkies, 5 in total, appear to be 4 boys and 1 girl. The 3 buff (boys?) appear to have streamers and a reddish color on the face but not a lot of development as far as comb and wattles. The white (boy?) has very...
I thought this would be a good place to ask as it has to do with re-homing a rooster. I didn't see any other forums that seemed appropriate for this kind of question.
I only have room for 2 but got a surprise 3rd and I need to find a home for 1. I do have a friend who lives several states...
The time has come, she finally layed her first egg :wee (hers is top right)
Looks a lot like my legbars egg (bottom left), I was expecting a bit more green, but still exciting seeing the rainbow of color when checking the nest boxes
Here is what I think is a better picture of the silver laced polish, not looking quite as wild as the pics where he/shes being held. Even though others can see what looks to be pointy crest feathers in the close up, I am just not seeing it. I see where it looks like someone may have been trying...
Funny thing is the crests don't look all that wild in a calm day when they are doing their thing in the run, but i will definitely keep an eye on hers. The thing that had me most concerned was the saddle feathers, I didn't know some girls could have longer saddle feathers. Other than that they...
