    I feed pellets to my girls mixed with cracked corn and wheat grains. I mix it up a bulk feed into a 80 ltr wheelie bin using 40 kilos of pellets, 20 kilos of cracked corn and 20 kilos of wheat. My girls love it and then they get crushed egg shells scattered with scraps. I also let them free...

  6. After receiving an early morning wakeup call from one of the hens tapping on my verandah after flying the coop I clipped the wings on all of them. They coped really well even if they were unimpressed with my catching them one after the other.

  10. I am very happy that I have taken the plunge and gotten the chooks. I would have done this years ago but I was scared about getting them and having them become fox food. I am doing everything that i can to ensure that this will never occur.

  15. You can now see the basic form of the coop and the various shelters in there. I am working on it by trial and error. Hopefully not too much error. You can't see it too well but the solid section of the roof is now up giving some proper protection from rain and sun. The rest of the roof area will be a mesh roof so the girls can expose themselves to sun and rain if they want to.
