    Is my hen sick?

    My Welsummer hen seems to have a cold.. She started to sound like a goose and when I pick her up and listen to her breathing it sounds as if she is congested ...She looks fine acts fine eats and drinks...no discharges ...eyes look fine to...could she have a cold? If so what should I do? Thanks...

    Yep we had 2 of them pecked to death ...they were brown Hawk like looking..shame.. they were beautiful birds..have 1 left and that one has been ok...Brown wyandottes are the ones that pecked them to death...

    We had the same problem...our 2 golden laced wyandottes pecked the back feathers out of about 8 of our other girls and pecked 2 of the easter eggers to death so we got rid of those 2 and the problem was gone....ours were about 8weeks old and just put into there new coop when this happened.we...

    I had two chickens this week that were pecked in the same spot. Both of them were of the same breed. Neither one of them survived left in the morning and they were fine, came home from work and they were dead.

    My 9 week old chickens are losing their feathers on their lower back above their tails. We lost our very first chicken yesterday. Came home and found one of my Ameraucana's dead in the coop, the other chickens in the flock we pecking at it. Then to find out we have 4 and possibly a few more...

    Our Guess is we have a Roo

    Our flock will be 9 weeks tomorrow and we think this one may not be one of the girls. This one developed much too quickly and is leaner. The tail feathers are pointing upward as well. Is she really a he?

    yeah I don't mind...it was $2700. It took us quit a while to save for it but since were not construction savy we thought this was the best way to go....It is alot of $ but it is very good quality and has alot of room..We took some pics before we put in the bedding and the girls.

    This one also has a feed room in it seperate from the chicken area...it's 8x 12 ....4x8 feed room and 8x8 hicken room.

    Thanks .. We got it from a local farm that sells sheds and such...I think the name of the company that made it is called The Hen House...I think it's an Amish built coop.We'er not skilled enough to build a coop this size that would last so we had to buy one already made.

    Our coop finally came, it was delivered very late Thursday evenng. Spent today gathering the girls in their new home. Next project is the run.

    The coop finally got here and we put the 18 girls in the coop today..All seemed ok but tonight we checked on them and the 2 silver wyandottes had the feathers in the same spot on their backsjust above the tails pecked away and the spots were raw with some blood.. the spots are about the size of...
