    Feather color genetics

I'm not trying to produce wheaten birds. It's just what I have at two different flocks and I was wondering what will come from it if I mix them :)

    Feather color genetics

Hi everyone! Has anyone tried for wheat rumpless araucana rooster with black copper marans hens? I read what combinations can come from it, but has anyone tried it and can share some photos with me? Thank you in advance! Attached a pic of my handsome rooster, Phoenix

Different symptoms in all birds that are sick

UPDATE; Hi all! I lost all but one Cream Legbars (6 of them is I counted well), the one left is laying for a couple of weeks now, beautiful blue eggs. The others lost are only 1 olive egger and 1 white Leghorn. Now I have 2 marans/moss egger separated, because their wings were dropping and one...

    BC Marans x leghorn?

Hi all! I have a beautiful BC marans rooster, Bastian, who I plan to keep for breeding with my BCM hens. Now they are not separated yet, and live together with leghorns as well. I tried to look for it, but without any luck. I was wondering... has anyone tried to cross white leghorns with BC...

Different symptoms in all birds that are sick

UPDATE #2 Necropsy is done, received the documens today. 2 different version of Marek's, plus Coccidiosis and Osteoporosis... just to make it easy... I'm absolutely not surprised, but knowing this I'm surprised I've only lost 15% percent of my flock, and it seem to have stopped, though I keep...

Different symptoms in all birds that are sick

UPDATE #1 We culled two pullets this morning that had shown serious signs of illness, and sent it to necropsy (One of them didn't eat or drink for 5 days so I literally have no idea how she managed to stay alive so far). Will have test results in 2 weeks. On the other hand I managed to have an...

Different symptoms in all birds that are sick

Unfortunately ducks are not what we can manage, they are way noisier then chicken, and we live in a small 7000 sqft plot, so our neighbours already want to k*ll us because of the roosters 🙈 I wouldn't want to make them more angry. Will do. Thanks again for your time and knowledge, I really...

Different symptoms in all birds that are sick

OK, I read the article. Tbh what I gathered from it, is if I don't plan to bring vaccinated or resistant birds, I'll most probably lose the whole flock latest in 2 years. I'll think about it, but reading this made me feel it is smarter to cull the whole flock and give it up for long term. With 2...

Different symptoms in all birds that are sick

The thing is, I hatched almost all of them and I have no idea how Marek's vaccines are in the US, but here it's absolutely maddening - it is kept in liquid nitrogen, and you have to use it in 3 hours after taken off of it, also in the first 24 for hours of life which seems quite impossible...

Different symptoms in all birds that are sick

I always read to eliminate the flock if it's Marek's. So I can keep the surviving ones (maybe 50 percent ?) just mind that obviously not giving away birds, and keep in mind only vaccines birds can enter the flock. Isn't it irresponsible in a way that my chicken keeping neighbours flocks can get...

Different symptoms in all birds that are sick

So if it is Marek's should I eliminate both the flocks and give up for at least 6 mos?

Different symptoms in all birds that are sick

No, the 2 cockerels died way before the new rooster was introduced. No, he wasn't quarantined - but even if I did, he is vaccinated so I wouldn't have the chance to see if anything is wrong, he's here for 5 weeks now and thriving. I'm feeding with home made layer feed of corn, wheat, peas...

Different symptoms in all birds that are sick

Hi All! I have 2 flocks right now, only a fence separates them (they are able to touch each other). One of them is 8 of my old laying hens, 10 (now 9) pullets that I hatched 22-30 weeks, and two 3+ year old roosters, mixed flock. The other is now 27 18-22 week mixed pullets that I hatched, and...

agressive 4 week old leghorn pullet

I put the two injured into a crate into the space of the rest, and put the agressor in a medium size box with grill on top, outside of everything, all of them have separate food and drink. Pain in the butt because we go for a 5 day vacation in 2 days, and I really didn't want to make more task...
