    You may be right about that, because my broody hen wipes her beak even when she hasn't been eating, and I can't see any nasal discharge. So it must be like a bull scraping his hooves on the ground.

    Our Buff Orpington Buttercup was affectionatly dubbed "Butterdud" after nearly reaching 7 months! She's the biggest chicken we have, and she lays the smallest eggs! Go figure!
