We mix in a handful or two of oyster shell with our chickens’ crumbles every morning. It helps the hens have harder shells on their eggs, but it’s even good for them while they are not laying!

It helps strengthen their bones. When we first got chickens, we lost nearly all of our hens from egg binding. Once we started them on oyster shell, no more of our hens have been egg bound! I hope this helps, and good luck with your flock
