We had an unexpected barred rock roo that was ambiguous till ~14wks; pullets have large combs/wattles by 20-22 wks, when about to lay. Comb/wattles turn red w/reproductive maturity for both genders, it happens earlier in roos. So, you’ll know if u get an egg or ‘crow’. Big Britches looks a bit red in c/w, but young hens can get red flare up due to heat, excitement, stress. They’re adorable! Good luck!
