Yes, sorry for the delayed reply. I used to have a hedgehog but he passed away a few years ago due to old age.

WHS, as you’ve mentioned, is not curable at this time. You could make her feel better by offering a little bit of mealworms and other treats. Does she have a heat source at all? Hedgehogs are more comfortable when they are at the correct temperature- about 75 degrees F.

Other than trying to make her feel happier for a short period of time.. there is not much you can do, sadly.

Would you be able to take a video of the hedgehog and posting it to a BYC supported site like YouTube?

Thank you! Yes, she has a heat source-her enclosure is between 75 and 80. She doesn’t have any other hedgehogs. I’d heard sometimes they don’t do well together. She’s about a year old. Unfortunately I don’t have a YT account, so I can’t post a video. Thank you for all the information!

Yes, I was asking if she had more hedgies with her because it is generally not a good idea unless you’re a breeder. Having a male in there with her or even another female could make her even more stressed, so it’s good that you don’t have any more with her.

A year old is quite young.. mine died at the age of 8.

Since she is so young with a (hopefully) long life ahead of her, would you be able to see an exotic veterinarian?

Yeah, I find it sad that she’s already not doing well. I’ve read that WHS usually presents its self around that age.

We’ve been going to an exotic vet-her next appointment is ok Friday. She’s also recently developed a large lump on her neck. I’ll get a photo in a bit.

She’s pretty! I feel bad that she is not in the best health possible.
Has the vet checked out the lump?
Has the vet prescribed anything for the WHS, to make her feel at least a little better?

The lump developed between her last vet appointment and now, so the vet hasn’t seen it yet. I think they’ve prescribed something... I’m not entirely what it is (I’m not the one who gives her the meds)

Unfortunately my family got sick, so we couldn’t take her. Her appointment is rescheduled for the 18th.
