BackYard Chickens - Learn How to Raise Chickens

Hi GTC! I've been good, thanks for asking! I recently set seven chicken eggs in an incubator to hatch, but I'll only have the chicks temporarily (they'll be going back to a farm.) They're on day 3 now, so about 18 to go! :celebrate
How are you?

Not so good. It's school. I hate my civics class, my chemistry class and my German class. My other classes are fine, but I'm just not interested in those 3 classes. I hate my chemistry teacher but I want to learn chemistry because of my career and I don't want to take German anymore.

I want to take a different course, but it's too late to change classes, yet there are still students who dropped out of classes this late in the school year. My mom is being very serious about me being in school because I struggled in my English class last year. She only wants me to focus on school. Even on weekends.

I can't even have fun. She tells me that once I finish school, I get a good job, then I can have fun. She doesn't understand. I can't be doing schoolwork ALL the time. I need a break!

I want to do modeling as well, but I'm not sure if my parents will let me do that. They just want me to go to college (which I will), but my dad wants me to go to a college nearby our house. I want to venture out and go to another state. When you grow up, your parents aren't always going to be there, so you have to learn to adjust without them.

Besides school, there's many things coming up too. In two weeks, my cousins from CT will be coming over because there is a wedding happening here where I live. My cousin from York is getting married and I'm not too happy about that. I don't think he is capable of getting married. I mean, he literally graduated from college this year and anyway, I don't even like weddings in general.

The last time I went to a wedding was March of 2022 and I promised myself that I would never go to another wedding again. Two of my other cousins won't be going to the wedding and I envy that. I'm forced to go everywhere with my parents.

Not trying to sound rude, but I don't really care about my cousin. I'm sorry, but I don't. We barely talk to each other and even if we are in the same room, we don't make an effort to talk to each other, because what is there to talk about? He probably wants nothing to do with me and he probably won't care if I go to his wedding. And why bother? He won't acknowledge me anyway. Say "thank you for coming" and all that.

I'll just be an outcast. There will be a lot of kids running around (I have no problem of that). I've been coming up with ways to not go to the wedding and if I do end up going to the wedding, I've been coming up with ways to sneak out of the wedding. Other than that, everything is fine. Grandma is still standing as well as the others. For Halloween, I've decided that she is going to... stay tuned.

This is a lot of information and I didn't mean to write a whole essay. My apologies for writing all of this on your profile but it had to be said.

I'm so sorry to hear that school has been tough, especially with those classes. It must be frustrating to feel stuck in courses you're not enjoying, and having a teacher you don't connect with can make it even harder. But it’s awesome that you’re still motivated to learn chemistry for your career — that shows real dedication, even when things are challenging!

It sounds like you're balancing a lot with your mom's expectations too. Maybe there's a way to set aside a little time for yourself, even on weekends, so you don't burn out. I hope things get better for you as the school year goes on. Hang in there!

As for modeling, I totally understand wanting to pursue something you’re passionate about, even if you’re unsure how your parents will react. It’s tough when you feel like they want to keep you close to home, especially when you want to venture out and explore new things. Hopefully, there’s a way you can talk to them about your goals and find some common ground that works for everyone.
