Yes! For me arch and the arch based distros I've used has been great! Just make sure to do your research before giving it a good (and avoid the arch forums, they're notoriously toxic and unfriendly towards new users). You can DM me if you have any specific questions. Mint is a great starter distro, Linux mint 18.3 xfce was my first experience with Linux back in 2018. Gaming on Linux is the best it has been and I can only see it getting better. The steam deck is actually running a heavily customized arch with the KDE desktop and I can confirm that steam proton does a great job of running most games I've played
