Meanwhile 1 hen is sat on 7 eggs which may hatch in 2 weeks. She spent the whole morning of day 5 off the eggs but has otherwise nested well so I’ll candle in a couple of days but I expect a few will be viable.
Currently have one rooster (1 year old) who I have separated from my 11 hens due to a couple becoming bare backed. He’s a softy and the hens often bully him. One is a fan of his and she sneaks in for cuddles every couple of nights. Not sure what to do with him longer term.
Babies now 5 weeks old
Added a copper maran and bason white to the flock last weekend
2 weeks old. The welsummers and light Sussex growing rapidly and the others not far behind. Some short flights already taking place. Another trip outside yesterday but raining today so indoors.Attachments
