Funny thing is Tom Petty is a secular singer - but if you tweaked the words to this song a bit you could easily turn itinto a Christian song. (Tom Petty died of drug overuse which was sad he was a great singer but obviously not a smart man). In one of his songs he even said 'loves Jesus'

that's crazy. it so sad the way that abuse (or use at all) drugs and alcohol to try to feel better about themselves. they are looking for something but they just don't know what it is.
