Yup, it is starting to feel like January in Ontario, but the chicken coop is comfy cozy and draft free. Thank you so much to my darling husband for shoveling out a path to the coop and clearing the snow off of the run roof.
I couldn’t handle winter without him. The hens and I are eternally grateful!

December 31, 2025, 6:00AM Featherfield status:
Minus 8.5C outside
Minus 6C in the run
Plus 3.5C in the coop
We put a roof on the run, covered the run walls with heavy, clear tarps, and put two Cozy Coop heaters in the coop.
I am very happy with these numbers!
Be kind to people you meet. You never know who lost an argument with a rooster this morning!
My hens are still molting, it is almost December, and I haven’t seen a single egg from the little freeloaders in weeks.
Can someone please tell me again how much money I am saving on eggs, by keeping chickens?
My “Coop Dashboard”, where I can monitor my ladies’ coop status without leaving the comfort of my warm, cozy bed. I can do everything from my ipad/phone except open the auto door, although I understand there will be a smart door coming soon!
