Good news about your geese! Though now the eggs won't be fertile right?
A hatch- A -long is basically when a bunch of people set eggs to hatch on a certain day or month, for example the Easter HAL, every ones eggs must be due to hatch on Easter day, and the march HAL your eggs must hatch some time in march.
This will be my first HAL so I'm not really good at explaining it.....
