This project will be at a stand still until I can find a new brown red or britchen rooster. A fox I can’t catch keeps coming through and taking chickens.
May be a fox. I had a fox come take 5 chicks without a trace. They're every hard to catch though, lastnight the fox I'm trying to catch dug under the live trap to kill the mixed chick I was useing as live bait.
The second baby I think has neurological problems bc it will bob it’s head side to side and walks around in circles. It also has tiny eyes which I think was caused by the incubator only being 98F which may of caused slower development. Fingers crossed the other eggs in the bator will hatch...
About 3-4 I don’t remember. I do have a few more that will hatch a little later.
The chick did hatch! I’ll have pictures when they all hatch from this first batch!
They are a little young, id not like that they have redder combs at this age but sometimes pullets combs will look like cockerels at this age. They don't have wattles forming so that's a good sign.
The rooster is mottled. The hen is not but may carry the mottled gene. If the hen does carry the mottled gene, 50% will be splits and 50% will be mottled. Here is a mottled breeding chart that I learned from
If you look at his beard you can see the mottling
And here are pics of him a a...
Yeah. He’s god the nice long neck. His tell is a little short and his chest isn’t very deep. But I’ll get that fixed, probably in a couple generations.
Just wanted to post my two roosters. For their l parents being hatchery quality and the khaki only being an f1 and the lavender being and f2 (f2 to get the lavender color) I’m pretty proud of the tails on these boys. I know their not the best tails but it’s a GIANT step up from their dads.
