Hatchery “ameraucana” aren’t true ameraucanas, they are mixes labled under the name ameraucana. The only hatchery that I know of that sells true ameraucanas is Cackle.
Thank you so much for the help! She has been separated since Thursday due to being lethargic. I will see if any friends have Enrofloxacin or amoxicillin before buying it and having to wait for shipping. I will start to weigh her as well.
Under her vent area is not enlarged but it is very firm and it feels weird and lumpy and not normal. Kinda chunky almost. It has gotten more and more lumpy over the days. She only will drink water with doxy in it or just plain water. She wont drink anything else. She sometimes will pick at mushy...
@Wyorp Rock and @Eggcessive , I know you two are absolutely awesome at possibilities and how to help chickens.
Adding an image of her comb spot, it seems to be turning a little bit purple :( She is napping right now, not in the sun though. She walked out of the sun which isn’t normal for her.
Hi, I have a sick hen who is I think turning 3 this year. She hasn’t laid an egg in around 2 months if I am knowing whos eggs are whos. On thursday I found her on the next with what seemed to be straining. She hopped off of the nest and drank a ton of water snd just stood there. I knew something...
Probably some sort of weasel/stoat as they are known to kill for sport. Do you know if weasels/stoats are in your part of the world? It could be fox but they dont sport hunt usually.
Your polish and silkies may get picked on by the other chickens because they are unique looking. If you want show birds to be in good condition for show, I would keep them separated from the other girls. Sometimes funky feathered breeds can mix, other times they wont.
Sometimes some birds just don’t like to be handled, it’s completely normal. Just even sitting by your birds and giving them snacks or scrambled egg will get them to trust you.
