Would this shed be good for 20 chickens as a coop? (actually 16 chickens but chicken math is inevitable)

You don't think you have racoons until you get chickens. You would need 3 of those strung together for 20 chickens. Ventilation, ventilation and then add more. I have a she shed made of wood and it gets very hot with just 2 small vents. Could not imagine housing chickens in there.

One thing about prefabs (i know , there is more than one) is how light and easily tossed or even shifted in high wind. Do you have you setup strapped to the ground at all?

    Is this raccoon proof?

If there is a place you have to have a hole or a gap make sure it's not somewhere the hand or arm can reach anything.

Is it too early to put the chicks in there coop

Move them out and give them some cuddle boxes in case they get cold or scared. Your problem will be light. Do they sleep in the dark now? If they do, your good to go. If not, they will want some kind of night light the first week until they get used to the coop.

Need help for a run on a sloped yard

We cant give much more suggestions until we can see what we are dealing with. Adding any material to the run will be futile until you get some ditches and dams dug. As you said whatever you put in there is going to wash away. The first drain I tried was a fresh drain through the middle of...

Need help for a run on a sloped yard

Greetings from Kentucky with a sloped run and clay soil. Pictures will be very helpful. I can tell you there is a shovel in your future. The battle of the mud will involve Ditches, Dams, Drains, Roofs and Gutters. I added these things one at a time to see what would work. First thing you...

    1st time outside the brooder

Just take extra precautions with little chicken nuggets. Hawks will take a chick out from under your feet. Make 100% they are secure before you turn your back.

    Is this enough ventilation?

You man door is facing SW so not a lot you can do as far as adding vents there as its the side getting the most bad weather. You can add to the North side. Small vents. We don't get a lot of rain from the north. You don't have to worry about snow load. Your roof has enough pitch on it...

    Is this enough ventilation?

Hello fellow Kentuckien! Yes, we do get bad winters here i agree but cold is not your enemy its heat. You have got to cut a 6-8 inch vent along the side under your overhang and cover it with HWC. Which way is your human door facing? N S E or W My coop is elevated and open on 4 sides...

Ramp for chickens with curled toes

Im a big fan of outdoor rubber mats on ramps. I had a hen with a bad hip but it was a big hit with all the ladies. And it helped my coop hatched chicks too. You can cut to to whatever size you need , drill some holes in it and attach it the rungs with zip ties. My ramp is wood so we just...

My coop is also raised with a ramp. My broody hatched 2 babies and they stayed in for a week. My ramp is little steep but is covered in a rubber mat. When she brought them out nobody went rolling down the ramp. And they where able to go back up too.

What am I doing wrong? What do I need to change?

I call the night time roosting routine the thunder dome. My girls have been together for years and there are still nights they squabble and hair pulling over spots. Let everyone put themselves to bed they will work it out. The more you intervene the longer it will take for them to figure...
