    Persistent Owl

I think "deter" might be a better word. Harassing protected birds is illegal.

Wow...the final Black Sabbath show was just a few weeks ago.

    Extending a run

You may be able to get a stainless steel pipe strapping that is small enough to fit through the mesh. This kind of thing: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=stainless+steel+pipe+strapping&crid=2R0TN26PHYGAG&sprefix=stainless+steel+pipe+strapping All you'd need to do is cut it to length, wrap it around...

    Extending a run

What kind of run do you have currently? Stainless steel pipe clamps can be used to connect wood to metal runs.

Thistlewick Smallholding - Chickens & Sheep (for now)

Sorry for your loss. The weird eggs could be from the respiratory illness you mentioned your birds might have. My hens' eggs have been funky since they started showing signs of MG.

    Treatment after finding lash egg

Thanks! She was given 0.2cc/lb of LA-200 on the 15th and 17th. The Baytril has already been ordered and should arrive this week. Is it worth a try?

Open Contest Outdoor Garden Show—2025 BYC Summer Fair

Entry #2: This garden hoop house my mom and I built from scratch has been one of our biggest garden successes. Tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, nasturtiums, and more grow exceptionally well inside.

    Treatment after finding lash egg

My 3-year-old Brahma hen, Seana, has been having some reproductive tract issues (funky weak-shelled eggs) for over a year now. Just last week I found her standing in the corner of the coop facing the wall, looking droopy and pale, and having yellow-tinged poops. I brought her into the hospital...

    Coop redesign

It's not ideal for chickens to be sleeping on a platform/deck/floor as they will be sitting in their own poop the entire night. It looks like it's hard to clean - are you able to add a lip and put bedding or PDZ on it to make it into a poop board? If you can I would add a 2x4 roosting bar...

    EE cross with weird hairdew

One of my EEs has some curling of her neck feathers like that. I thought she damaged them somehow but I guess it's just genetics!

    camera feed in coop

Just FYI, I wouldn't use a cheap Chinese WiFi security camera if privacy is at all a concern.

    Food for mixed flock

I'm not sure he will learn...there are a lot of people who think it's normal for chickens to live about three years, stop laying, then die. This is, of course, untrue if the chickens are healthy. Mine continue to lay past 7 years of age. I'd say try wetting or even fermenting the chicken feed...

    Hen or roo? Light brahma

Agree with cockerel. This is what my Brahma pullets looked like at around 13 weeks (very small comb and wattles).

    Shredded printer paper for bedding

My only experience using shredded paper was in nest boxes. Our shredder only shreds in one direction and the long strands bothered me as they would get caught in the chicken's toes and be strewn about where I didn't want them. I'm curious, @gtaus and @BigBlueHen53 , what kind of shredded paper...

    Stinky Acres Farm

Thank you! I hope so. But she will be one of those chickens I'll have to keep a close eye on. She is such a good little hen and I would hate to lose her. She is very sweet and gets along with all the top chickens.
