I thought we wound up with two girls. Does this mean I have a drake, even though there is no curly tail, and they both look identical? Or, do female ducks actually mate each other? These are buff orpington ducks, about 4 months old.
Through my office window. This went on for a full minute...
I'm in no official capacity. I'm security cleared, but I'm contracted to simply type court hearings.
It's my computer, my software, and I just download their court audios, type them up, and upload back (Sharepoint). But to do those accurately, I've got to look up how to spell things, for...
The work I do from home is transcription of fed immigration court cases from around the world. It involves me having to research sometimes things about a little hamlet in a Third World Country. I've been doing this for about a decade. I got spooked about looking things up last night.
Do I...
The heat here finally broke, so highs are back down to the high 70s and low 80s, and we finally got a cool night, too, but this humidity is ridiculous. 90% yesterday, 96 now. It hasn't rained in 24 hours but is supposed to. No wind is a treat too! :)
Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow
Congrats on your first egg! That's always so exciting and memorable! Sounds like you've got a nice flock there. If you don't mind sharing a picture of them, we'd love to see!
We're glad you're here!
Excellent article for anyone wanting to build a very sturdy hoop coop. The author included step-by-step instructions, blueprints, materials lists, etc., to help anyone build this.

The member who posted the hoop coop hasn't been online in over 8 years, so doubtful they'll be back to give any advice. I looked at that hoop though and they wrote an excellent step by step with blue prints, materials list, etc. and seems to have included...

Chicks take 21 days to hatch, so if you can figure out about what day she sat down on them, you'd have an idea of when they'll be hatching.

@BantyChooks has built several incubators and maybe she wouldn't mind taking a peek. Otherwise, you could peruse through our Incubators and Brooders articles and find lots of examples there.

Hi!
We just had one like this, without the swollen hock.
I'd get some B-Complex, either adult pills you'll cut and give less than 1/4 of one, or liquid fruit flavored drops like we got, then it's 1/4 of the eyedropper.
First, we did the usual Vet Wrap bindings for a couple of days. That's...
Just the smell of the dog can help deter predators. I'd put yours on a leash like once a week and walk the perimeter of your property. I had to do that with our border collie, and she learned what I wanted her to check that she hadn't been. But most importantly, it got her smell there.
Well said! We have one half the size of a regular silkie, and a couple that are substantially smaller. They were just hatched that way and live their lives normally.
Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow
Great intro! If you hadn't said English wasn't your first language, we'd never know!
We love pictures if you have any of your girls you don't mind sharing.
We're glad you're here!
