Help needed customizing low estrogen and gluten free feed

I linked a sizeable study showing increased incidence of Bumblefoot in broilers, attributed to change in fecal consistency and "stickiness", in a diet of 1% Chlorella, and noted the study had its limits. Obviously, there are significant differences between Ross 308s kept in cages on commercial...

Help needed customizing low estrogen and gluten free feed

Assumes facts not in evidence re: both diet and state of relative health. Most assuredly, the local ducks are eating more than primarily algae with bits of bread. and no, in general, bread is not a good diet for ducks, poultry, or much of anything else... On that, we are agreed.

Help needed customizing low estrogen and gluten free feed

they were looking at blood chemistry mostly, few other indicators of chicken health - and as often happens, differing studies can sometimes reach seemingly contrary conclusions. That's when you need to start looking at the differences, see if there is an obvious "why". Often, the rest of the...

Help needed customizing low estrogen and gluten free feed

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11685776/ Caution, in this study, while there were **slight** benefits at 0.1% inclusion, at rates of 1%, there were already some cautions. They correlated changes in the birds fecals to increased incidence of bumblefoot, which they suspected resulted...

    Stormcrow's Hobby Farm

Not a problem, I have separate facilities, and as long as I wait till everyone is about the same size, I can integrate together.

Two more hatched. Moving them to the brooder box soon. Total of 7 hatched so far, of the 4 remaining, 2 have pipped.

    Free rein feeding method

Since Lectins are present in essentially all grains, most if not all legumes, potatoes, tomatoes, the various squash & melons, and of course seeds... Yeah. Can be mitigated by various processing methods. Still, quite the challenge. Sorry you are so afflicted.

A sixth is still drying out/puffing up in the incubator, at least one more is pipped (but little progress in the last 12 hours). Haven't looked at the eggs in back yet.

Middle bird in this photo has a chance. Other three are NOT what I am looking for in a bird (color/pattern). Early freezer camp winners. Three chicks hatched so far, pips on at least four more. (of 11, 12th is a turkey egg - not due for another week). Pics soon, they are warming under the...

    Stormcrow's Hobby Farm

Apparently, its hatch day. I can hear cheeping in the background, and at least 5 eggs are visibly pipped. They usually hatch a day early, I should have moved in the brooder box and started the heat plate warming last eve, but it was raining... So I'll skip lunch to get it done.

    Feed versus Scratch

That's scratch. As others have said, a few days on it won't kill them. But the Protein is 1/2 what is considered minimum, Met is 2/3 the minimum recommend, Lys is less than half the recommended minimum. at least the Ca isn't excessive. Figure they will likely eat (assuming they have room)...

    Normal vent?

As to the other question??? What I don't know about poultry illness and injury would fill books, and does. I look to BYC's experts like @Eggcessive above when I have questions on those subjects. I will, however, off that you can keep your birds on that grower feed all their lives if you want...

    Normal vent?

There is the potential for a LOT of fat in those mealworms - and whatever they are being fed will then concentrate in your chickens (I mention because what mealworms are fed on is less well regulated than most other feed products, and mealworms generally are produced overseas. No guarantees, of...

Do you add stuff into your commercially available food?

I did read it. And when I'm not working from a cell phone I'll be happy to cut and paste things from the study you seem to be glossing over. Moreover, broadly, their hypothesis is that commercial egg producers can use a feed management system similar to what I already do. Commercial complete...
