    Show Me Your Pallet Projects!

I bet that watering wand comes in handy. Did you make it yourself? If so, can you tell us how you made it? I think I want one for myself! :tongue FWIW, I had purchased a couple of watering wands that worked great for a year or two, then they both broke. They had those heads that you could...

    Show Me Your Pallet Projects!

:clap It's been a week and a half since I had to restart, or fix, my Super Sweet 100 tomato plants that the tops got eaten by the deer. This morning, I was outside looking at the plants to see how they were doing. Honestly, if you did not know what they looked like 10 days ago, you would think...

What are your frugal and sustainable tips and tricks?

:old We must be close to the same age. I have the exact same memories. My grandpa grew up during the Great Depression, and I cannot remember throwing anything away that might be reused. We built lots of stuff with both used lumber and used nails. Maybe that's why I am so comfortable making...

What are your frugal and sustainable tips and tricks?

That's why I have stashes of both in my shop. Dear Wife does not like those metal coat hangers, so I take them out to the garage, and they eventually get used for something. I save the thin wire from unpacking stuff. Just roll it up and put it in a drawer, ready for use if/when the time comes...

⚠️ Clearance on Central Machinery 9" Band Saw at HF I just picked up a Central Machinery 9" band saw at Harbor Freight on clearance for $84.00. I got the last one at our store. Here is a picture of the box... That Central Machinery band saw is being replaced by the Bauer 9" band saw selling...

What are your frugal and sustainable tips and tricks?

Looks like you solved the problem. Great job. I don't know about the screws for your feeder, but our local Fleet store sells all kinds of screws and bolts in bins. You can buy a single bolt if you want. I often take a part into the store and look for a matching bolt or screw if not a common...

What did you do in the garden today?

I have never loaded cattle panels in a pickup or small trailer. But lots of people do it successfully. Sounds like you have a better way. Thanks for sharing. I hope it helps @Sally PB who posted her concerns.

What did you do in the garden today?

:caf This guy makes it look easy... My local Fleet store will deliver cattle panels to our house, but the trip charge costs more than the cattle panel. Probably a good option if I were to buy many panels. They have a long flatbed trailer so the panels would be flat when delivered. Also...

What did you do in the garden today?

I had rabbit in the military mess hall. It was good. I think more people had a problem with the idea of eating rabbits than the taste itself. In Europe, you can often buy fresh rabbit meat on the open market. I think they have a different attitude towards rabbit meat, with a long history of...

What did you do in the garden today?

That's too bad. My father had some bad reactions to poison ivy many years ago and had to go to the doctor for shots. That's no fun. If you had bad reactions in the past, it's smart to avoid repeated exposure. Unfortunately, there is no medication that you can take to prevent poison ivy...

What did you do in the garden today?

Hard to tell the size from the picture, but it should work fine to trap chipmunks. Just have to figure out what bait to use. The chipmunks I have in the yard are smaller than a rat, so I would think it would work. :idunno Not quite sure why you want to use a live trap to catch rats and mice...

What did you do in the garden today?

:lau I prefer to walk around the garden during daylight hours when I can see it. On the other hand, I always find more work that needs to be done. Maybe I would be better off enjoying the garden at night when I can't see anything!

What did you do in the garden today?

:lau Yeah, well, my birthday was like 4 months away! It's one of those presents like the Christmas I got a new extended showerhead from Dear Wife that was lower, I guess, for my convivence. I did not realize that the showerhead was too high for my comfort! But I was wrong! Anyways, I guess I...

What did you do in the garden today?

I'll have to look into that. Dear Wife just got me a Ninja Air Fryer for my birthday, and it has a dehydrate mode on it. So, maybe I already have the expensive part of that process. It would be nice to have a number of options of what to do with excess eggs. Thanks.

What did you do in the garden today?

:idunno I'm happy with just one use of the pickling juice from the can of pickled sliced beets or leftover juice from a jar of regular pickles. I don't trust my sanitation is impeccable. Also, since there is no cooking or heating in the making of these pickled eggs by just packing a jar with...

What did you do in the garden today?

Never tried. Dear Wife sells most of our excess eggs to friends. But we keep the smaller eggs for ourselves. Every once in a while, we have enough for a batch of hard-boiled eggs and then I will pickle some.

What did you do in the garden today?

When we have excess eggs, I like to make pickled eggs simply using a can of sliced pickled beets... I just pack a jar with the eggs, sliced beets, and the pickling juice from the can. No recipe to worry about. Pickled eggs ready in a day or two. I like the pickled eggs and the sliced beets...
