I have looked her over pretty well after a bath and when I was blow drying her feather sand didn’t see any bruising. She did feel a little swollen earlier in the week in one area, but I don’t feel it anymore. I just wish she could stand.
Thank you for your reply. She is eating pretty well. I did have her in an outside pen, but discovered ants were attacking her because they were attracted to the food, so I decided to keep her indoors or on my screened porch. When she was outside on the grass while I was cleaning her pen a...
It’s been a week since my hen was found limping. Later that day I found a bunch of feathers so I realized that she had been attacked but survived.
A week later she can’t even stand up. I have kept her isolated and made a sling to put her in for some time during the day. She has a small...
I had a hen that had egg peritonitis. She couldn't stand correctly and was very sick. I took her to a vet and that was the diagnosis. I have also had white leghorn chicks that developed a type of paralysis. But they were about 4 weeks when it set in.
I have five roosters that are starting to beat up the head honcho, Pappa Roo. I have lots of land for them to roam during the day, but it seems "spring is in the air" here in Central Florida and things are getting intense. Four of the roosters I'd like to rehome are on the smaller side...
I picked her up and felt her crop. It's kinda squishy feeling. I picked up some of the other chickens in the yard and they don't feel like there is anything in their crops and they for sure had breakfast! Can a chicken live for weeks with something wrong with their crop?
I saw that poultrydvm website. Very cool! I did put in her symptoms and it gave me a list of multiple issues.
I have ivermax in a tube. Its an Equine paste dewormer. I could give her just the tiniest pinch of that? I'll check into antibiotics. Thank you!
I have one hen who is less than 2 years old that is not doing well. Several weeks ago I found that she was standing like a penguin so I brought her in the house and gave her a bath thinking maybe she was egg bound. I have bathed her twice and cleaned up her tail feathers. She has not layed any...
I have a young chicken- approximately 7 weeks old. Last Sunday (6 days ago) I found her sitting near the coop. (My chickens free range during the day.) She was sitting while the other chicks (same age) were active. I brought her Inot the house and she cannot walk. She has been In the...
I tried to candle all 22 eggs. Many are very dark inside with a small amount of light at one end. A couple I could see more definition. Have no idea what point of development they are at.
It may very well be that the stopped developing, because one of the nests sat abandonded for many hours on a cold night. However, I figured that some of the eggs may have only been laid a day or two before the broodies left.
...on the incubator, but don't know what I'm looking at. Also, many of the shells are dark brown or green, only a couple white ones, so hard to see inside the shells. I could not detect any stinky eggs.
I appreciate any advice!
*This morning I candled the eggs and added a few pictures below*
I'm not sure what you are seeing as pus. In the first picture I posted, when I zoom in I do see something over the eyeball itself. Is that what you are refering to?
I brought her in to take a good look. To me it looks like the lower rim of the skin around the eye is torn. These pictures are with a bunch of triple antibiotic on. However, it doesn’t seem to be responding to antibiotic ointments, that’s why I was wondering if it was fungal.
