    Breed of roosters

Would need more information about the parent stock to help. If the Marans were all black copper, then any blue or splash chicks would be mixed.

Help the 4-H member identify these birds

I see a bunch of production type Rhode Island reds. Some are lighter, some are darker. I see a buff Brahma in the first three pictures, and the very last one. Next to it, either a black sex link or black copper Marans. There is a Colombian Wyandotte in the twelfth picture. There is a...

Brown chicken + two different Barred Rocks?

Feather quality varies. Some have softer feathers, some have harder feathers. A breed like Cochin or Orpington is known for softer feathers, but it can occur in most regular breeds. Your barred girls may have cuckoo Marans rather than barred rock genes. They do appear mixed to me, though. The...

Brown chicken + two different Barred Rocks?

Good job at rescuing these ladies! The leg color seems off for the barred rocks. I wouldn't be surprised if these are all barnyard mixes.

It is definitely a male. I would advertise for a free rooster on Craigslist or at any rural farm store.

    Boy or girl?????

It has a large comb for its age. I think it is a cockerel. If there are two with large combs like that, then probably both males.

    Boy or girl?????

It's all about combs and wattles at this early age. How big they are and how colorful they are. Those tails will molt out and really won't tell you anything until the birds are much older.

    Hen or roo?

It is a cockerel. Male specific feathering is just starting to peep through in a couple of spots. You can see a bit on the shoulder and the saddle-- it is the brighter colored feathers coming in.

Songs that make your skin crawl.

Books, TV, Movies, Plays, even operas deal with every kind of subject matter imaginable. For some reason there is a block when it comes to popular music for some people. They want all romantic songs or party songs. To each there own, right? All I care about in music is if it moves me in some...

Hen or Rooster? Updated Photos with Ages

Bon Bon is the only one that seems a little iffy to me. Not enough to say it is definitely a cockerel, though. Mocha and Fergie are definite girls.

Update double checking on the sex of my chicks

Songs that make your skin crawl.

I love music. Some songs are so overplayed that they start getting on your nerves, though.
