White Mite Infestation - Please Help 😭

Thank you! I’ve heard stories of bird mites getting in the house and being super hard to get rid of, biting humans, pets, etc., so that makes me feel a lot better! I’ll check those links out. For the sticktight fleas, we’ve just been putting Vaseline on the ones we see - usually about every...

White Mite Infestation - Please Help 😭

I did a permethrin dip + ivermectin pour on yesterday morning (sorry I’m just now seeing this!). I think it worked, but I still saw a few crawling around a couple hours afterwards. This is what I saw on most of my black birds

White Mite Infestation - Please Help 😭

He’s been coming for the past two years. It’s some sort of permethrin product. I asked him a lot of questions in the beginning to make sure it wouldn’t negatively affect the chickens, but I don’t remember the name now. I’ve also consulted multiple vets about it, and they said that the products...

White Mite Infestation - Please Help 😭

I have permethrin, but I’m trying to avoid having to continuously treat. This is seriously, seriously freaking me out, and I don’t want to have to worry about it for the next month 😭. They are definitely mites though because my chickens have had lice before, and they look nothing like that...

White Mite Infestation - Please Help 😭

My flock and I are currently dealing with a minor sticktight flea problem, so I went out to check one of my roosters this evening, and the back of his head was COVERED in these crawling white mites. I checked one of my other birds and saw one on her as well, but she probably had more. I’m...

    Chickens keep getting water belly

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. Yes, I have noticed soft-shelled eggs and shell-less eggs recently, but my chickens eat them so quickly that I don’t have the opportunity to see who expelled it. I’ve only noticed two incidents though. My plan right now is to eliminate all...

    Chickens keep getting water belly

Three of my chickens have gotten water belly in the past 2 years, and I’ve just discovered another chicken that has it. I’m at a complete loss for what to do at this point. My chickens are pets, and we treat them as such. Their coop is well ventilated and extra large, they get free range time...

    Deplumbing Mites or Mange

I’ve treated the coop and my chickens twice already with elector psp - a week apart. I’m planning on treating the coop again today with permethrin 10. I wanted to use something that would get absorbed into their bloodstream to try and keep them off their bodies, but then I started seeing...

    Deplumbing Mites or Mange

When would be best to do so? I want to use the ivermectin for mite control.

    Deplumbing Mites or Mange

Is it safe to use ivermectin pour on a day after treating my chickens with equimax for tapeworms?

    Mite Identification

That’s good advice, thank you. Do you happen to have any thoughts about frontline? I was thinking of using it since it gets absorbed into the bloodstream, and I don’t really care about their eggs. Not sure if I would still need to be concerned about treating and retreating the coop though.

    Mite Identification

Thank you. Unfortunately, I discovered a different kind of bug this afternoon on yet another egg but wasn’t able to zoom in on my camera enough to get a good look at its body shape (I also freaked out and squished it after a few seconds of watching it). Could this be a red mite? It was bright...

What kind of frontline did you use?

How do i use ivermectin on my chickens? (Mites) or what is most powerful mite killer

Can you please explain exactly how you used it? I think I have a mite problem and want to handle it swiftly. My chickens are pets - not used for eggs or meat - so egg withdrawal isn’t a concern for me

    Mite Identification

Hi everyone. I noticed this bug on one of my eggs Monday evening and immediately treated my chickens and the coop with Elector PSP the following day (Tuesday). Since I’m posting this at 12 am my time, yesterday (Wednesday) I went ahead and cleaned my coop out again (the floor is dirt/sand, so I...

Dewormed flock but still seeing worms?

Should I wait a certain amount of time before deworming them again? Since I only saw one of them have it, is there any chance it was just that one bird that was infected and deworming the whole flock again isn’t necessary?

Dewormed flock but still seeing worms?

I dewormed all of my chickens this morning with Equimax for tapeworms but just saw one of my chickens expel a roundworm. I’m assuming the Equimax helped knock it out, but it was still moving. Was it probably dying, or do I need to treat with something else for the roundworms?

How to extract Equimax from tube

Yes. I actually noticed because my most favorite hen pooped right in front of me, and I’ve gotten into the habit of checking droppings whenever I get the chance lol. The tapeworm segments were moving. Is it 10 days or 14? I thought it was 10, but I have no problem doing it in 14.

How to extract Equimax from tube

Would squirting some into a 10 ml syringe and extracting it with a 1 ml syringe work as well? When I had to deworm them before, I used Zimecterin Gold, and a friend advised me to put the tube in a 10 ml needless syringe, cut the tip off, make the hole big enough to fit a 1 ml syringe and draw it...

How to extract Equimax from tube

I noticed tapeworms in one of my chickens’ droppings the other day, as well as in another dropping much smaller that I don’t think was hers. I have 23 chickens who free range most of the day, so I can’t keep track of who drops what. I plan on deworming all of them with Equimax (in case more of...
