    They are all the same age. It would be unusual if that (other chicks pecking) was the case. Note how most of the affected area is not even visible when the chick is in a standing position. I cleaned it and put it back with the others and it is healing without issue. No others have been affected...

    I have both Light Sussex and Chocolate Silver Laced Orpingtons and both fit your criteria. They are quiet, dignified, friendly, very good layers, and are pretty to look at.
