She's not molting....I just got all of them at the same time this past March....Nothing with their feed has changed....Nothing with their coop has changed......As for her ranking i'm not too sure.....They don't seem to fight much at all....She's got all her feathers and doesn't seem to get into...
I have 13 hens and 1 rooster....All my hens are brown egg layers except one....She's an easter egger and the rooster is as well....All of the hens are laying fine....The Easter Egger stopped laying a month and a half ago but seems fine otherwise....I have camera's on them so I know nobody is...
Yes this is a rooster...The comb and waddles raise an eyebrow but his feeble attempts at trying to crow are a dead give away....Just wondering what his breed is so I know what he's going to look like when he's older...I'm going to keep him and try out that "no crow collar"
I have 7 hens that just turned a year old back in March.....Up until about 2 weeks ago they were laying like clockwork...I was getting between 4 and 7 eggs per day.....Now i'm lucky to get 3 a day and some day's just 1.....I have 1 leghorn that lay's white eggs and she hasn't laid in about 4...
I've been putting vaseline on the combs and waddles....I did break down and put heat lamps in each of my coops but with doing that I make sure there is a lot of ventilation to allow the moisture to escape.....Even with the heat lamps the temp's in the coops are staying around 15 degrees....So...
Well I did break down and put the heat lamps in the coops last night...I left their door's open so if they got too warm they could go out into the runs to cool off....Right now its about 6 degrees outside and the coops are holding at around 24 degrees
This is why i'm concerned...Look at these Temps
OvernightPeriods of snow with areas of blowing snow before 4am, then snow likely with areas of blowing snow after 4am. Low around 5. Wind chill values as low as -8. North wind 9 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is...
My chickens have been doing well in the cold conditions we've been having....But Tomorrow night and Friday it's going to be around 0 degrees with wind chills around -13 to -20....Should I put my heat lamps out to help them with the extreme cold?
Got my first white egg today.....That chicken hatched July 22nd....Now the other 4 I got with her need to start laying....She'll be my only white egg...Those bigger brown eggs are from my girls I bought back in March
Was in the Military....You eat what you can get your hands on out in the field....A lot of locals eat dog and you eat it with them....Cook em like a roast with veggies and potato's....As long as you can get past it being a pooch then your good
Yeah I have every intention to allow nature to keep it's course by not putting any lighting in the coop...I live in the Pocono's and come Jan. and Feb. we can get some pretty brutally cold nights....I'm not going to put heat in the coops because i'm scared to death we would lose power and I...
I've also been giving mine more and more table scraps....Today my 8 month old's picked the Turkey clean....Tomorrow my 18 week olds are going to be picking a chicken carcass clean
