Tales of Azula the wonder chick, and her sister Ty Lee!

Ah I am so sorry I have been so busy so forgot about this thread! They are both now living outside comfortably! Ty Lee is definitely a rooster and Azula is a hen! I'm eagerly waiting on Azula's first egg!

One of my two babies turned out to be a roo so I ordered a NoCrow collar immediately. Thank you so much for this article! It both made me feel at ease with it, yet cautious at the same time!

Thank you! They just seem so comfortable inside though. So I'll likely just stick to daytime run for a couple hours a day then inside

They started panting from the heat even with a fan on so they are back inside

Azula has been putting on weight and Ty Lee is doing great! They spent their first night outside in the coop tonight! I'm making it their home for when the weather is nice I can't believe they are two months old now!

They are both doing so much better and finished their antibiotics! Azula is still light though. But we're working on it

The sneezing has stopped! Azula has gained seven ounces already as well! I mixed 50/50 medicated chick feed to flock raiser and added a couple handfuls of dried mealworms

Nope and no unfortunately. I do think it's because she is ill and having her first moult right now. Both of those must be putting a strain on her little body. I haven't seen anything in their feces though. But I know it's not always visible

Thank you! They are free fed. She's just choosing not to eat as much. I have been giving her raw egg and fresh k*lled insects for protein after learning she's underweight. I just wanted to make sure the keel is actually a way to tell and I wasn't going to make them obese

The vet said Azula's keel is prominent and that she's underweight. But I've heard chickens don't usually carry fat on their keels? What do you think?

Oh I'm sure they will haha. Be careful. If you have any drakes they will likely harass the hens

They sound like very lucky ducks! They tend to grow attached to their owners so I would let them inside from time to time to hang out. They really appreciate being with their giant flock member haha

So sweet! Also consider offering orchard grass hay. Ducks benefit from forage

I see. They likely broke the feathers off on the tub. Once they are out with a lot of space they will grow back and be fine

Bobbing for food in the tub would be great. Frozen peas are fantastic for that

What do their sleeping quarters look like though? Is it a kennel? Everything else sounds great

It happens. Are you using a vitamin supplement? What are you feeding them? What is their home looking like?

Both showed good improvement today so I let them back outside for the day
