Help identifying breed of this chick!

Yup, that's what I'm thinking. She must of got stuck in with the barred rocks by mistake. They are almost 6 weeks now and it's very obvious that she's NOT a barred rock lol. Either way this batch is so curious and funny, they've been a joy raising but alas out to the garage they'll go next week...

Help identifying breed of this chick!

I wanted to try out some different breeds this year then I've had in the past. Family farm and home had buff orpingtons and barred plymouth rocks in the same brooder so I bought 2 of each along with some other breeds. They are a little over 2 weeks right now. Now that the wing feathers are...

Bloody rooster, but not his own blood

No frostbite going on. All of my hens are laying and have been laying all winter, this was more then them just nesting, I'm talking completely emptied down to the wood.

Bloody rooster, but not his own blood

I didn't even think of that but it's very possible, and if that's the case it makes me feel ALOT better then the possibility of a real predator lol.

Bloody rooster, but not his own blood

My chickens are normally out to free range or in the run but it was brutally cold today so I left them in. This morning when I watered and checked on them all was well. This evening I went out to water and check on them and my rooster is bloody. He's a light brahma so it's very easy to spot. I...

    Help, whos laying these eggs?!?!

The brown ones are the Pearl Star Leghorns, and I know forsure it's not my OEs or Marans, and I have caught my Brahma so I know its not hers either. That leaves 2 pearl star leghorns, or one little grey EE.

    Help, whos laying these eggs?!?!

These aren't white leghorns, they are Pearl Star leghorns which is a mixed breed between partridge rocks and sussex. I know the leghorn name is kind of misleading.

    Help, whos laying these eggs?!?!

Anyone have any pearl star leghorns? All information I can find says they lay large cream white eggs. Past few days, I've been finding these in the box but I'm not sure who is laying them. Photo- mystery layer, light brahma, midnight majesty maran. I have an EE that was supposed to be an OE but...

    Help identifying eggs!

Yep I'm thinking like others have stated, shes just getting very close to POL and is probably just checking things out. Her comb and wattles have really gotten bright red over the last week or two, even more so then her sister so I'm thinking any day now I could start getting eggs from her. Hard...

    Help identifying eggs!

So none of my ladies have started laying yet, with the exception of one olive egger for about 2 weeks now. I was sure of which hen it was too, until now. I go out to collect my daily egg, and suprise suprise its not little olive egger in there. It was one of my midnight majesty marans. I thought...

Cockerel trying to mate.....with little to no success

Correct but it still gets dark early until then, meaning they would still need supplemental light at least until then if not longer.

Cockerel trying to mate.....with little to no success

Oh sorry that probably would have been helpful. I'm in Michigan, we are only getting about 10 maybe 10.5 hours of daylight right now. Daylight savings ends in March then our days will start getting longer.

Cockerel trying to mate.....with little to no success

Oh awesome. That's was my plan to get them on some lights with a timer but I wasn't sure if it would work since they hadn't started laying before winter hit. I'm gonna go ahead and order everything then, thanks!

Cockerel trying to mate.....with little to no success

I have a mixed flock that I got from a local feed store this spring. All around about 5.5 months give or take a few weeks. I was lucky enough to somehow manage only getting one cockerel from straight run out of 10 birds. We were new to chickens so I don't have an older more established flock...
