If we had a livestock guardian dog, it would be sleeping on my bed, like our other 2. 😝

This is why I have 5, the 4 get along very well, and Goldie is doing an amazing job with his little group of hens, and they are all great with the hens. I can't imagine life without the roosters to manage the ranging and sorting out the nesting. Chickens know chickening best and our only job...

I have noticed our CCL's do the same with their tail feathers, they are usual bunched when they are up to some mischief.(more compact for a quick flit.)

Exactly this! My mother is "FB Friends" with all our relations, that she always goes out of her way to be nice or helpful to, always sending birthday cards, only one of them has called her or reached out to her since my dad died, or her stroke, they never think of her b-day, but they are a...

I have been severely limiting my social media time, everything is so fake. I haven't had a facebook account for a few years and really loathe it, but if it helps find a nice young lad that fits the bill, as soon as you have him, you can let it go dormant or even cancel it. :-)

How horrible are some people, they just dump them anywhere. 💔

Is there some sort of forum, where you could put a notice that you are looking for a cockerel or rooster? With so many people who just cull males, even with limited ranging, having a few ladies, good food and a chance to range, even in a limited capacity, could be better than sure death. While...

Cats are not my favourite, but I have 2, inherited..they are strictly indoors, and when I have had chickens in the house, either when we brooded the new chicks in my office or when I have someone in for whatever reason, they visit with the chickens, but never bat at them or show any interest...

I love watching them, as they first discover their little voices. It is so cute that the cuteness out weighs the quality of the sound. ;-)

I am still hopelessly addicted to sport, so since it is here, it is just on, or the music. I drive The Egg Thief crazy with music, I have everything from bag pipes to metal and sometimes, just play the play list so that almost anything could play next, like lucky dip, I could go from Barrington...

We have it on as background noise while we are doing other things. I can't sit and watch TV, because I fall asleep. I just can't sit idle, but when I try to go to bed at night, my brain suddenly starts thinking of all the things I could do, like new coop designs, fast growing shrubs/trees to use...

I don't know about better, but I really like like the series. We don't get it live here, it is on the streaming service, "BritBox", and I always start over with Series 1, Episode 1, when a new series is about to drop, it makes it last longer..LOL

That is just hard. It is not imminent, but I figure I have about 30 - 40 years left, and if my son doesn't want to take over, I will find a young family that wants to love and care for them, and leave them the land, but set it up as trust with a stipulation that the chickens and turkeys must be...

How old is Chuck? Is it possible he is still maturing? Spud wasn't always the perfect lad, but he got better as he got older, he is now 3 years old.

We are just lucky to have broody hens and really awesome roosters. I am totally not judging anyone, I got my first chickens from a hatchery and used an incubator for a second group, but after watching the hens raise their own and the turkey hens co-brooding and parenting their own, this is just...

I think it is sad that the Cheepy couldn't rule the world with her little army, and Mini Minx couldn't take her babies and join any tribe. I love how Harold brought Gedit in. (Sorry, I have something in my eye.) I guess Spud is just a really extraordinarily special boy. He immediately...
