    Additions to layer feed

That’s a great idea, and something not super costly. Silly question, is the beef raw or cooked before you freeze it? And so you get a lean one or a one with a little extra fat?

I can’t recall the brand, but it’s the layer feed that was recommended from our local feed store. I also give them things cabbage, carrots, apples and scrambled eggs once a week. I haven’t tried the soilder fly larvae but heard it’s good for them too. I grew trays of alfalfa and clover sprouts...

I have 2 sets, some are 10 weeks some are 13 weeks. They all seem to be active like normal, and have been integrated over the last 3 weeks. Everyone seems to be active per normal and eating as well. I also have a sweet gum tree and they’ve gotten quite a few leaves off that bit I do t believe...

How to coop a new flock

Hi all! I am going to put my older girls in the coop for a few days to try and get them accustomed to going in at dark, currently I carry them in at night which is easy since there are only a few. What do I do when I bring the other girls out in about a month or so? Do I have to lock everyone...

    (6) 4 weeks old chicks in Southern California

Hi all! I have 6 4 week old chicks with some feathers and some down still. I’d like to move them to our covered back patio along with their heat plate and brooder (my kids can’t handle the dust with their breathing). The temps are mostly low 50’s-60’s at night and 60-80 in the day. They will be...

    Treat advise

I think I may have overfed dried mealworms to my 1 month old ladies. They are ok, I was using a 1/8 cup and tossing onto bedding so they can forage. There is so much conflicting info surrounding treats I am looking for clarity. They have starter/grower feed in there at all times, how often can...

    First timer from California

Hi! I am Courtney and recently moved to California from Az. Our daughter hatched chicks in kindergarten so we took 2 home, our first chickens ever and added 6 to a separate brooder today. Looking forward to having these cuties in the yard, we just finished their coop and run repairs.
