Hello, I hatched my first eggs ever last weekend and I have a Easter Egger chick who has puss covered eyes. I put a warm compress on them and the puss came off and it looked much better she has no drainage from nose or sneezing and seems strong and normal. My other chick who is a golden buff...
So I looked up some internally pipped pictures and I don't think it is...but it's def still moving in there. I guess I'm just going to hang in there as long as it's stays alive! It's so hard to be patient!
I don't think so but I'm not positive, I've never candled one that was internally pipped before. I'm a total newbie at this hatching thing. The only other eggs I've had hatch were with a broody hen and I only candles those a hand full of times.
Good morning! I had my first hatch ever this weekend and I loved every minute of it. I had 3/5 eggs hatch (I'm pretty sure the 5th egg hasn't been viable since the day of "lockdown" but it's a dark shell and I wasn't positive so I didn't want to toss it if it was still good) 2 are great and in...
Hopefully it works out for you this time! I have a third chick that died right before it finished hatching :( and there's another one still wobbling around in there but so far not even pipped so I don't know what will happen with it. My incubator is very messy right now from the other chicks...
Hi! I had an old styrofoam cooler that we cut the front out of and then placed a 8x10 plastic clear frame in the front with duct tape. Then we cut a hole in the back and put a light socket through with a 40 watt dimable light bulb and plugged it into a lamp dimmer cord. I also put duct tape...
@RubyNala97 the rest of my family enjoys the chickens and liked this hatching thing but I may slightly be obsessed lol or at least that's what they would probably tell you! I have officially hatched my first chick in an incubator and it's amazing I will probably be talking about it for the next...
Thanks!!! I took the kids to their ball games and to get ice cream since they won and came home just in time to watch the first chick hatch! That was so amazing! I may become addicted to incubating lol
Hello! I am semi new. I have posted here or there over the years but mostly just do a lot of reading through the threads. I have been reading through this one for 2 days now waiting on my first batch of chicks to hatch! I made a homemade incubator last month and set 6 eggs from my flock. There...
There was another post I read earlier (I have been reading through all the hatching threads today because I made a homemade incubator last month and am anxiously awaiting a hatch today or tomorrow) they hatched in egg in a basket on a heating pad I believe it was and then using a damp washcloth...
Did you ever get any results from the necropsy they did on your last hen that died? I had a young hen around 8-10 weeks randomly up and die today with very similar symptoms that progressed rapidly over a matter of hours before she died. I am at a loss and all my other hens seem completely fine...
Ok so I have two Dominique's and I realized a while ago that their combs were different but they were so small I thought maybe I was wrong...well they're getting bigger now and I'm noticing they're def different and their tail feathers are also different...So I think I make have a rooster...
Thanks for all the info! I'm always learning something on here :) I have never noticed an EE with green legs before so I wasn't sure but I knew buff orpingtons didn't have green legs so I assumed it was her since I only got one EE. The other two I know are buffs because the other ones are black...
I've had my suspicions about her from the start those puffy cheeks and then the green legs... lol seems like a sweetie either way! And seems like she's going to be a big girl! (If she's even a girl...maybe she'll really surprise me and be a roo too!)
