    Suprelorin/Deslorin Implant

Does anyone know where I can buy a Deslorin/Suprelorin implant without a prescription? Thank you

Deslorin implant is no longer available for chickens

Sorry, I wasn't real clear on my response. No Suprelorin is the brand name of the Deslorin implant , I was trying to point out there are other options like pregesterone implants that do the same thing.

Deslorin implant is no longer available for chickens

Is the Suprelorin different than what I asked about? (Deslorin)

Deslorin implant is no longer available for chickens

The Suprelorin implant shouldn't be the only option if they changed the label on that particular brand. My vet initially used to give my Khaki a progesterone implant of a different brand before switching to the Suprelorin implant by Virbac because I used to be able to get them cheaper online...

Suprelorin implant : experiences when the effect wears off ?

Short question : has anyone had a hen start laying again a few eggs once the implant wears off, then stop ? Longer story: Our hen Laure was implanted on the 17 august 2024 , at only 15 months old. She had been laying soft shells or shell-less eggs very painfully for a month and we were worried...

Hen passed blood clot & weird egg membrane

Here are the few online information I read. https://microsanctuary.org/2020/05/13/our-experiences-with-suprelorin-implants-for-rescued-layer-hens-by-karina-donhardt-garden-of-edhen/ https://opensanctuary.org/suprelorin-implants-a-critical-tool-in-chicken-health/...

Hen passed blood clot & weird egg membrane

Well, we are now five months on, and Pluisje's Suprelorin implant has finally stopped working. Unfortunately, she has kicked off her new laying cycle by 'laying' a blob of albumen and blood. I will call the vet on Monday about getting her another implant. The good: in the five months since she...

Another "broody hen" post... but hear me out!

I'm not sure if Suprelorin would break the broodiness or just stop the egg laying. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/suprelorin-implant-to-stop-hens-laying.1300435/ So she has been given eggs and they've hatched and she still didn't snap out of it? Have you put her in a bin of cool...

    Feeding after Superlorin implant

I found this: Suprelorin is a brand name implantation system for deslorelin acetate. Administered under the skin, this rice grain-sized implantation prevents specific hormones from being released in a hen’s body, which prevents eggs from being produced. So it would prevent problems such as...

Vet willing to admin hormone implant

Hey! I drafted letter to my congressmen and the FDA regarding this implant, and I started a petition on Change.org. I’d love for you to read through it and consider signing. https://chng.it/DzRJsvJjmQ

Deslorin implant is no longer available for chickens

Got it. Thanks for clarifying! My regular vet is two hours away and wouldn't discuss the other options AT ALL without me being in person. I ended up at another, also two hours away....who did Deslorin. Hopefully can keep that going for now. I wish there was someone within my city but none carry...

Hen passed blood clot & weird egg membrane

I'm sorry that she's starting to have troubles again. Hopefully the Vet can give another implant soon. Thank you for the update, let us know how she's getting along and if you are able to have her seen.

    Suprelorin/Deslorin Implant

Here is the search page to look at some articles and there are several people in the states who have gotten them through vets off label for chickens: https://www.backyardchickens.com/search/86277763/?q=Suprelorin+implants&t=post&o=relevance One is in Pittsburg, PA. You are free to pm those...

Suprelorin implant with an already formed egg

Hello, not sure if this fits better here or in chicken behaviour and egg laying, sorry if it's wrong. I have a nearly two years old hen who got the Suprelorin implant late last year after a few soft-shelled eggs that led to a prolapse. The effects recently faded and her comb turned redder, so I...

Picture Of The Week (POW) Information & Submissions

Her X-ray and ultrasounds shows a cancerous mass the size of a baseball. This picture was taken right before we went to the vet scheduled for euthanasia. I backed out crying in the office, and am trying to find a way to get her a suprelorin implant

Hen passed blood clot & weird egg membrane

Tiny update - it has now been about three months since she received the implant. She has regained a little bit of the weight she lost, and still isn't laying any eggs. Whatever happened to her in December, it doesn't seem to presently be affecting her health at all - which I am indescribably...

    Duck, Duck, Help! (please)

Are you giving a layer feed? Ducks also need vitamin D to help with the hard shells - is she getting opportunities to be out in the sun? Laying a soft-shelled egg is very hard on them and can make them isolate for hours while they try to push it out - it's so hard to see them suffering. You...

    Feeding after Superlorin implant

Thank you. That's interesting. Sounds like it would prolong the chicken's life; I'll have to research this deeper.

Another "broody hen" post... but hear me out!

So the eggs I've given her are unfertilized. I live in a suburb so can't have a rooster. As for chicks. I do actually have 3 chicks currently in our house. Being sort of hand raised by us and the children (they want them to be super tame). But I was very nervous about the broody hen seeing the...
