I recently received an order of chicks and one of the chicks had what looked like pasty butt but the spot was about half an inch below where its little butt was which was clean btw. When i soaked him to clean it off ( like i would if it were pasty butt) it was yellow and looked like a bit of the...
I do the same. Any time i even touch one of the blocks even if im not flipping it the whole flock crowds around. One summer there was a mouse nest under a couple blocks i had stacked together. I went to move them and it was like an explosion of these small little field mice and the whole flock...
I just received 3 Iowa Blues from SandHill only had them a week and i do agree they are quite brave, very noticeably so. Looking forward to raising these little guys
Thank you i have been reading about chicken genetics but haven't really got a good grasp on it yet. Im hoping to eventually be able to develop a polish mosaic or moonbeam 🤞🏻
I have a tolbunt roo with 3 splash hens so far i hatched out 3 chicks that ended up as white crested black with a bit of white leakage on the chest and incomplete white crests. Is this going to be typical color for their offspring?
These are the chicks at 10 weeks
...outside in the chicken run for about a month and a half with no change at all. Im just digging and moving dirt around by hand (well by shovel) ** a large part of the run is the 25° sloped side yard of my house, which im turning into a couple large stairstepped fodder plots for the chickens to...
So none of my hens used to react at all when my rooster would make his little "alert something scary" noise. Which he makes for any and every thing.
Then my niece and her dog moved in. We have a dog already and this dog is similar size but he will bark at the chickens while outside. So now that...
No 😞 im looking for Black Crested White. Its basically the exact opposite of that color pattern. It is pretty striking when both color varieties are pictured together.
😭 BCW polish are nowhere to be found.
I read on a different thread that when developing this color they used silver laced polish and lakenvelder. But no further info was posted on the "recipe"
Im looking for anyone selling hatching eggs for Black Crested White Polish or any other Black Crested varieties that anyone might have. Been looking for them forever plz help

I ended up with 5 roos and 13 hens. I found 3 of the roos good homes, my little crossbeak one didn't make it ( woke up one morning and he was gone ) i just wanted to post some pics of the flock. A few are a bit old now but some of them arent very cooperative for pics lol.
I have a tolbunt polish rooster with 12 hens (6 mille fluer, 2 easter eggers, 1 tolbunt polish, and 3 splash polish) they were all bought at the same time and have the same hatch date. Originally there was 5 roosters but as their personalities became more evident i decided to keep this one cause...
...needed more than me for entertainment. Most of the suggestions online include some way for them to work for food i first tried using their food only but they had no interest. Then I've been trying to use treats *affordable treats lol but that only gains slightly more interest than the regular...
My chickens are all about 5 months old now. I started to try and feed them a bit of scratch sprinkled around and inside a couple treat dispensing toys as a form of daily enrichment. They pick out the sunflower seeds but that's it. They wont even try to eat the rest of it. Non of the other grains...
