I bought 5 chicks from a local chicken keeper. She told me that the chicks were from a RIR rooster and Ameraucana hen. I’m very familiar with the whole Ameraucana vs. Easter Egger scam. I don’t think she was in any way trying to scam me. I just don’t know how knowledgeable she is and whether or...
3 and 4 were chest bumping this morning so I’m a little concerned they are both cockerels. 😣 That’s how my two RIR Roos acted at this age. I was really hoping at least one would be a pullet. I’m still going to hold onto hope!
I don’t know why I can’t figure out how to edit my original post but here are the same pictures with numbers for each chick. I really hope #2 and #5 are girls and at least one of the black ones. 🙏🏼
Yeah, the girl I bought them from says they are Olive Eggers, but they are Ameraucana (hopefully) under a RIR so everything I’ve read says they are just Easter Eggers. Best case scenario they will lay olive eggs, but I will be happy with them no matter what.
I bought these Easter Eggers (she was calling them Olive Eggers, but I know that’s not right) about 5 weeks ago. They are 6 weeks old today. I know that there’s no way to tell for sure yet what sex they are, but some of you are so good at guessing that I thought I’d make a post and see how many...
I have five 6 week old chicks in a chicken coop/run inside my goat yard. The chicks are locked inside the coop with a brooder plate at night. This evening I came across a king snake in my yard. It was only 2 to 3 feet long. My dog started to go after it, but I called him off because I know that...
Hello, I have some 11 week old cockerels and 13 week old pullets. Until now they have been kept separate from my egg laying hens and have been fed starter/grower feed. I’ve always just kept the younger ones separate until 18 weeks, but they are very anxious to be kept with the rest of my flock...
I don’t know which thread to post this in so it’s going here. 😆 I have a question about egg storage. I know the answers to the questions about washed v. unwashed and refrigerated v. unrefrigerated but the thing I can’t seem to find an answer to is this… If I keep my eggs out on the counter for a...
I’m a little late to the party, but I just wanted to say that I have two Easter Eggers that are just a few days younger than yours. Mine are named Clementine and Millie. Clementine looks a lot like your Dreamsicle. I love her colors and markings so much! And Millie looks similar to your Redhead.
