I have 5 of 6 of these Indian Runner Duck eggs. eBay auction, paid for 5, got 6, one quit, but still have 5! just put in lockdown today! This is my first time hatching ducks, but I have done chickens, geese, quail, pigeons... lol. These are some very wonkie air cells!!! But I HAVE hatched...
Largest part of air cell up.:). Usually that’s the way they wanna roll. I just put my shipped runner duck eggs on lockdown today, and their air cells were much worse than the picture ones. In the past I have hatched silkies just the same, but this time is ducks. And yes, the silkies I did in...
Bear1978, I am about to finish my coop and planned on leaving extra 1/2”hardware cloth at bottom. Can you share pics of yours? Do you bury the wire straight down or make 45degree angle and run parallel the ground? I also have a TON of rocks I’ve collected, I was planning on using along the...
Following... can’t wait to see what happens! Good luck! I had a much smaller egg I incubated this year and she hatched perfectly, with everyone else. She’s a showgirl, and still smaller than her siblings; but is probably even tougher than the bigger ones! This is Cricket... my partridge (I...
I just purchased my Brinsea Mini II Advance this spring. I have hatched 2 sets of Silkie eggs in it so far.. first hatch- 5 of 7 hatched (they were started in the hovabator then moved to Brinsea at around 1 1/2 weeks), second batch, 5 of 6 hatched. These were all shipped eggs. Before this, I...
I started giving my chicks small crickets from the pet store, when they were a little over a week old. And chick grit! They go NUTS chasing them around! Haven’t had any problems.
I did this and I swear, and got the first pip shortly after. I used the YouTube video that says to help hatching chicks. I don’t think it was a coincidence! Good luck. I just hatched a batch of silkies/showgirl/satin/frizzle eggs from eBay. They hatched May 30. My son, Luke LOVES them!
I would wait a few hours, check, slowly take a little shell off but leave the internal membrane. Take tiny pieces of the shell off in the same way they would zip the egg. Only around the aircell. Do a little, put her back, a little more, etc. NEVER pull her out of the bottom of the shell, In...
I’m so sorry for your loss. Is there anyone near you that could help or take over? If you’ve never hatched chicks before it can be a little overwhelming. Wish I could help more:(. I hope it all works out for you.
I would leave her until the veins recede. If she doesn’t progress on her own, then continue to assist. If there’s blood, STOP. Put her back and wait a little longer. As long as she is able to breath, there shouldn’t be any rush getting her out of the shell. With the incubator opening up...
I took a few more pics of Alice today. The breeder did say she had a mixed variety of silkies including satins and sizzles. I’ve never had a funny feathered chicken other than silkie. So my question is, is Alice a sizzle? And what color would you call her? Just curious. I love them all the...
Wanted to share some pics of my 2 1/2 week old silkies/showgirls. I know it’s early, but really thinking the grey splash (Bill) and maybe Remy the black one are cockerels? :(. What do you guys think? And would Bill be considered a Satin?
