I got the membrane off of it's eye. Both eyes are open and he's looking good. He is actually double in weight of most of the others.. -

Update.. he hatched. He, like the egg, is about 1/3 larger then the others. I helped him a little and he seems o.k. but has a small piece of egg shell membrane over one eye. I'll let him dry a little more then get that off of him with some warm water and a q-tip. He was a little slow going at... -

Big eggs and auto turner question??
I see a lot of pics of turners around here with small pieces of paper towel under them. I don't have a turner, I do it by hand, but a piece of paper towel should work fine.. -
Coturnix Quail Chicks..all colorations(pics)
I had an interesting chick hatch yesterday.. It is yellow with brown stripes on it's head and back. The stripes are distinctive and run "front to back".. Anyone want to take a stab at what it's adult color might be? The parents were a Manchurian male and Italian female.. -

I received a 21 gr. egg yesterday! I have this one hen that is noticeably larger then all the rest and her and her brood mates have recently started laying. I've received a lot of double yolks too. Dwarf Cot?
Yeah, I will not cull him. He's healthy and because he gets handled a lot, he is pretty mellow. He might just make a nice pet for a kid... He is 1 - 1.5 day younger then his hatch mates and about 1/3 their weight..
