Anyone Made a Coop out of PVC Pipe etc?

I’ve got heaps of foxes and chicken mesh all around my fixed coop and they’ve never gotten anything though. I’d let the out to scratch most days.

Anyone Made a Coop out of PVC Pipe etc?

I'm looking into making a coop out of PVC pipe and Old plastic Fertiliser bins and hopefully adding wheels to make it moveable, Has anyone on this site had any luck or tips for making something like this? I'm thinking chicken mesh on all sides but not sure if I could use it on the floor to stop...

    Fox problem

A good aim and a gun work wonders on foxes. Or a trap but they are tricky. I find my husband and his mates are the best control on our farm for foxes.

    Best chicken breeds

Yes I totally agree!, Ive had lots of different kinds and the best are usually the ones that are handled regularly from day olds. Although some "wild" type breeds like the Lavender Arucanas are way more flighty than a lot of other heavy dual purpose birds.

Thoughts on uncovered coop run flooring?

I like wood chips as a thick 10cm layer in the coop as they like to turn it over so the poop breaks down and isn’t so smelly. I’ve used sand but it’s not great it still gets quite wet and is heavier to clean out when you need to. I have also used wheat straw which is ok for a while but it too...

    help need advice

Ive had the same problem so I pick up the whole nest box in the dark and move them to a separate pen, Mine is a huge roll away too, takes 2 to lift it but I find once they're settled and happy not to move its just easier. You may be ok but it could be a low hatch, checking at 7 days is the only...

    Putting chicks under broody hen

I just had 2 out of 3 broodys kill their own chicks! Just be super careful. I usually wait at least a week with a broody to make sure she will stay. Its very risky in my opinion, you'd be safer with a light.

    Help, First time baby chicks

I have one the same at the moment and it wont survive the night. Sometimes unfortunately the weak ones die and you cant do anything about it. Just keep an eye on the others if they start acting sick I would be contacting the person you bought them from. Its sad I know. Good luck X

Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I think a sussex would be great, they are excellent layers and very pretty birds. I just have chooks as a hobby but was trying to get enough of certain breeds to just keep my flock fresh and maybe sell some on the side to friends, my husband hates it though he thinks its a waste of time and...

do dark yellow or orange yolks mean they are healthier.

My Hens have always free ranged and have access to layer pellets and different grains with treats of corn and scraps, I get dark and bright yellow yolks, I prefer the bright yellow myself as its a cleaner taste but you do notice the dark yolks in cooking things like sponges and custards. When...

Here is a pic of where I keep young chicks until they're big enough to go in with the rest of the girls. My father in law made it for me, its great but a bit heavy, its his first attempt though.

Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Yes it is heartbreaking, I had a small drum of wheat next to their shed and the fox jumped onto the roof and into the coop that way as they can't dig under the mesh, then I had either a chicken hawk or Crows eating my chicks when I let them out of their tractor for some free ranging in the fruit...
