Unfortunately, here is a picture of one of my hens that was pecked.
What products can I use heal. She was also pecked on the face by the beak.
There are 6 hens and they have been together for 6 months. Any ideas to work towards prevention. Does peck spray or lotion work?
Do you want...
They amputated it. The vet doesn't know if her beak will grow back or not. Some posts said it depends. But said she will learn to eat again.
Definitely up a good vet. Many made excuses like they weren't accepting new clients. Or they were booked for awhile when they hear and think its...
She lost about a 1/4 of her beak. But she is happy and active. Just a word of caution. Always realize how serious something is and tell the receptionist that its serious. Even find a poultry vet ahead of time hoping you Don t have to use them. Or else you waste time calling down the list.
Our little girl is about a month. She hit her beek too hard and crack the top of it. Putting it off alignment. Turning it to the right. I have attached a picture.
She was fine an hour ago. But just noticed one of our chicks has a cracked beak and is twisted to the right. I have attached the picture. Thanks in advance.
We unfortunately had her euthanized and put to sleep. They couldn't guarantee anything if we spent money to spare her life. Didn't want to see her suffer and die within days.
They were not sure they could keep her alive even if we spent all the money. We unfortunately had her euthanized and put to sleep so she would not suffer.
Were at the vet. They said her stomach is full of water. If we take her home she will die. They said they could do test and surgery but cant guarentee she will live.
Were going to miss her and will let her go peacefully at the vet .
I'm sorry that I referred to them as chicks. They're chickens. Bigger ones now. They get regular food. And then snacks. The weather here is warming up.
A few days ago we noticed she was slow and not much energy. They have been getting mealworms . She bit it then dropped it. Which was...
They get regular chicken feed. And every once and a while mealworms as a snack.
Currently there is no lamp setup.
In the coop there is pine shavings. On top of the coop there is pine shavings as well where they lay eggs. Every once and a while she sleeps up there by herself.
