My first ducks were the same way. Then one day they changed their minds and now they only come off of the pond to eat. 😜 They free range 24/7. Getting older ducks that are familiar with ponds would definitely be helpful. ❤️
My muscovy hen has been sitting on her eggs for 29 days. They should be hatching soon (approximately 6 days). I have her in a coop. Will she take care of the ducklings once they hatch, or do I need to? I have incubated and raised muscovy ducklings in the past but have absolutely NO...
Yesterday one of my hens started sitting on her clutch in the coop. Late yesterday afternoon she came out and then stayed on the pond overnight. (My Muscovies stay on the pond at night.) I’m sure it’s because she felt unsafe. My intentions were to close the coop at night but wasn’t fast enough...
I’m having to leave my ducklings with my elderly father for a week, and I’m looking for the easiest daily clean up solution possible. They will be kept in a sunroom in a trough. Will puppy pads work? I don’t want them to get splay leg. They will be 2.5 weeks old when I drop them off. TIA
I had to cull several of my drakes because my ratio of drakes to hens was way off. Now one of my hens is grieving and just stays by herself on the pond. I do have a 11 other ducks, but she just stays by herself. She seems so lost, and I don’t know what to do. 😢
Is there anything I can do to...
We found a rat snake in our Muscovy’s nest that she had been laying on. We removed the snake, but it was very large and had a horrible odor. When I opened up the coop, I could smell it even after the snake had been removed. The Muscovy did sit on the nest for a little while the next day but then...
Thanks! These are about the ugliest ducklings I have ever seen(so ugly that they are cute), and they are already stirring up trouble. The egg in front of them is pipping, and they act like they are playing kickball with it. 🤦🏻♀️🤣🤣😳
I have five Muscovy hinny eggs that have pipped right on time. One pipped today, and when it did, I noticed brown liquid oozed out of it. It is still moving and appears to be zipping. From what I’ve read, I doubt it will make it. Has anyone else experienced this? 😢
It is possible. Some of my Rouens fly all of over our property at times. It’s obvious that they were crossed with mallards because they are smaller than my regular Rouens.
I am in the same boat! Thought my eggs were Pekins, except for one. Now I know they were layed by my muscovy. The problem is, my drakes are Pekins, so these would be hinnies. Two of my eggs are completely full looking. I have five more that don't seem quite as developed. Today is day 26 for...
